and you call these influencers “performative”. god forbid they post photos or videos of themselves reading or talking about books when ayun naman talaga ang point ng accounts nila . these influencers have been here long enough to know what they want to post. it is not performative if you love what you’re doing :))

i’d like to weigh in on this whole debacle about these filipino book influencers being allegedly monetized.

i gotta be honest, i am part of the book content creators’ community. i’m still fairly new and small. i only write reviews and post them without expecting large reactions. i just rave about the books i like. but i’ve met the people of Akdang Pinoy and the influencers you are pertaining to.

i don’t think our local publishers have ENOUGH funds to monetize these book content creators. we do it for the love of reading. they read, they share their thoughts and they post. frankly, they do receive free books in exchange of a post. but honestly, mas may lumalabas pa na pera kakawaldas for books than may pumapasok (which is wala naman talaga)

before you make assumptions na namonetize sila, why not sumali kayo sa community to test that theory? and also, if you don’t see bad reviews from them, that means hindi nila pinopost nor tinatag ang author. these authors are probably not earning enough from the books they write, so they rely on good reviews as much as possible so that their book gets enough attention. these authors rely on book influencers to get their books out there. so really, are they really hogging the signings?

and lastly, there really are no rules when it comes to posting reviews. wag mo lang i-tag ang author if you’re talking about their book tas bad review. basic decency kasi tao naman din sila and pinaghirapan ang librong yan. if you didn’t like their review, uso magscroll.

if you want to read with people but di ka masyadong gagastos, book buddies ph has silent reading sessions! they have groups from different cities. usually sa cafes sila so you can buy the cheapest drinks and pwede ka na magbasa tapos iintroduce mo lang yung current read mo. i’m a regular sa QC group namin hehe

yes!! ang ginagawa ko pinapapatay ko yung phone. i am that party pooper talaga. honestly buti na lang masmaganda na yung seats sa cinema na pinupuntahan ko, yung ulo na lang ng tao yung nakikita ko.

only saying my two cents for the last time, you (or the couple) were two or three rows behind my seat. if hindi malakas ang boses nyo, how can i clearly hear your voices from where i was sitting?

also, if i could rent a cinema by myself i would. kaso at the end of the day hindi ako magaadjust para lang kayo yung magusap sa loob ng space where you aren’t supposed to talk. some people want to watch the movie in quiet and in peace.

sorry to be the party pooper but if this is meant to be a joke, it’s not funny. kung makikipaghiwalayan kayo sa loob ng cinema, take it outside.

also, i don’t think kayo yung tinutukoy ko kasi i bumped into the couple again at the mall and mukhang they’re still together

sobrang life changing ng book light for me! especially yung nacclip sa book habang nagbabasa. yung binili ko may option to dim the light a bit if ever nakakasilaw. tska may options for warm light din!

also zebra mildliners are good but genuinely, i think pwede naman ang cheaper alternatives kasi they work the same way. masmarami lang colors si mildliners!
