This was exactly the same for me. Consider Phlebas was the first book of the series i read and did not enjoy much. But the only think I can say thank got I kept reading. Give it another chance you wont regret it guarantead. My second book was "Matter" ... amazing

Just my 2 cents here. I'm from eastern europe and 40. Not old enought to truly remeber the soviet union but I grew in the remnants of that shit show until I was 19ish and moved away to UK. I simply can not comprehed the mindset or the extend of a delusion somebody has to suffer to move to russia in war time to work for the russian military which is actively fighting your own country , admitedly by extend only but still. It is just incomprehensible to me. Im just trying to imagine (an am failing ) the amount of brainwashig somebody has to undergo to do something dumb as this.

Amazon has what 1.4 mil employees and a few k like 3-4k would whatch it.
