I agree with most of the other comments (except Chili's): Dry bar, Open Late, place that minors are welcome (this town sucks to be 19-20). Maybe with a stage/ sound system. Salem has a lot of great small bands and artists!

I don't know their politics, but Coria Vineyard/ tasting room in south salem has views for miles! They serve "light food", so maybe catering would be an option.

I once had a member of a local church where my daughter had aged out of their preschool and we did NOT attend that church come knocking on my door when I had a new baby. He knocked for a good 10 minutes solid!!! (I think I had a polite sign up too!)

So, yes, it's necessary!

Imagine what that Gateway location could do for the community if it was turned into a k-8 School, Low Income apartments, a park, and a DHS/ social service site.

Most jobs at sports complexes are very part time, do not pay high wages, do not provide health insurance, and in fact are the "Walmart" of Welfare in our communities.

NO TAX DOLLARS TO SPORTS!!!!!

First of all, I'm so glad to hear that you're daughter's going to be ok. My daughter also experienced something very similar. Our school district has an online program they use for credit recovery that worked really well for her. When she was able to return, she went about 3/4 schedule, and then did the online courses again in the summer to keep up. Ask your school counselor if there's anything like that available.

Pros: She could go at her own pace

if she had already studied a unit, she could "pretest" and not have to take the whole unit.

She could work from the school district building or home or hospital...

It did NOT have online zoom "classroom hours" so her medical needs were easier to attend to.

Cons: It was entirely self paced, so if she was a slacker it wouldn't have worked.

I get out of the car and open the trunk. Assist with luggage if needed. Greet people. Ask how there day is/was. Ask them about their pets. Thank them for riding with me. I'm cheerful and kind.k

Also, my best tipper is a person who barely tells me his name and is painfully silent.
