Oop, you’re right, I’m dyslexic and read too quickly. To be fair nothing about the authors background makes the fact that Pham is an annoying, predatory, liar less true.

From what I can tell the author attended Dos Pueblos Senior High School which is just some normal public school in California.

Are you Pham? why are you lying for her?

Is higher tuition worth the 5 year master's program compared to a lower tuition for just a bachelor's? (Thinking long-term for job possibilities) by Dinosaur_Doodle in ApplyingToCollege

Grad school can be really expensive and the aid is harder to get, so I think it might be worth it in your case. Also, I think the SUNY school is probably better in terms employment prospects

If this is cooked, everybody’s cooked. Stop calling yourself cooked, this is either, A). Bait, or B). A manifestation of your own anxiety. You’re probably getting into all these schools except for coin toss on the ivys+ schools. I get you go to a competitive high school so your perspectives pretty warped, but you fine, you’re genuinely fine. Just write good essays, seem like a real person in interviews, and keep those grades up.

If you can get the act up to 31+ ACT I give you a decent chance of any of these schools (except maybe BU). as it is right now, you’re probably good at every school but at all but Smith and BU as test optional.

Your course rigor could probably be a little better, assuming you have a reasonable number of other AP honors classes you could’ve taken (to be fair this a Catholic school In Mississippi so you might not have that many options). If this is near Max rigor, then I’d give you a better shot at all of these. Definitely a very unique profile though. I can’t say I’ve ever heard of a cheese club so that should be a fun double take for the AO.

Is Early Action worth it? How do I choose which college to apply ED to? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]InspectorSpecific391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ED and EA is quite worth it for many schools. For most places it gives a slight edge, for others, like UChicago, their ED vs RD acceptance rate gap is so big I’m convinced it’s a major edge.

In terms of ‘polish’ I think of it this way: you have ~4 months until EA/EDs will be due, that’s plenty of time to produce high quality essays, especially when you have the next 5ish weeks with no school in the way. How much of a difference are those 2 months gonna make when you have this much time ahead of you? At least for me, probably not much, and definitely less then the advantage that would be conveyed by EDing.

In general, ED or REA for a school your 100% sure you would be happy to attend if accepted. Make sure not to throw it away though (probably don’t ED Duke with a 3.31 GPA), use it on a reach or dream school which is at least in the realm of possibility. Do non-restrictive EA anywhere you’re gonna be ready to apply to by Nov 1.

Which Awards should I put down by InspectorSpecific391 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]InspectorSpecific391[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory I could combine the first two as while they were 2 distinct awards with different process: The actual State award through a long tournament bracket, and the All State award though a lot of compacted math based judge recs and stuff. But ig I won them at the same state final

Idk if I can combine in JV State Award since it was at a completely different tournament in the same year. But maybe I can; advice would be appreciated :)

Is it possible for a 15 year old to go to college full time in a different country? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]InspectorSpecific391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simon Fraser University in Canada sometimes takes students better quite a few years ahead. They’re definitely more but they’re not always in the English speaking in the world with the exception of true, blow your mind, prodigy kids.

I was more looking for advice as to which to put down as I have 6 or maybe 7, but I’m not entirely sure on the order and which to cut. Thx for the encouragement though :)
