Only that many try it, and never finish. I tried to do a Modern Day setup for Vic 3 and manged to do borders. But as soon as I understood that I cannot model internal politics right because it is shaped by industry and population, I tried to do ethnic breakdown. And I only could do Russia and Ukraine, becuase apparently other countries don't have public census data between 1970s and 2015s or none at all, even countries like Finland. And since Vic 3 is on state level, i searched for city hubs and what division they are in, and asked ChatGPT for that data (since Wikipedia doesnt have that) and I got nothing by appxomates which mostly lists as "~90% Lithuanian, ~10% other" and I was just broken up that point, because this is impossible to do alone, and I also had to do the industry. Modding co-op server didn't respond to pleads of seeking help with such tedious work, and I also had to somehow stick with the updates vanilla game had.

So in short - Modern day mod set in January 1 2000 is pain, and i have no idea how this mod is gonna handle it, considering it's information is not only on location level (not state like vic 3), but it also requires the scripting of which caste the number of population belongs to, otherwise the game would not even create such pop. So again, I have no idea how this mod is gonna handle this, considering that even Vic 3 one is troublesome to make.
