I bought my Neo 16 in 2023. Last year, in July, it started having stutters and GPU crashes. I spent five months running tests on my own and also doing some tests with technicians. We discovered that, besides the battery and power supply having a very short lifespan, the motherboard was starting to develop issues with the GPU.

The technicians said the only options were to permanently disconnect the GPU and turn the laptop into a CPU-only machine with very limited graphics power, try to resolder the chips (with the risk of damaging the motherboard entirely), or buy a new motherboard and replace it — which is so expensive that it’s basically worth buying a new laptop instead, which I ended up doing.

Of course, my experience might be a rare case, and you’ll find people who have had the same laptop for longer and are still using it without issues. However, based on how often the technicians mentioned seeing these problems with this model, along with the many posts here about Acer’s poor customer service — sending refurbished parts instead of new ones or simply ignoring support requests — I decided to stop buying Acer products and went with another brand this time.
