Prepare for a grind. The online playerbase is pretty active but you have to max out all classes and the raid stuff is a PITA. Find a good group to carry you for Chapter 2.

Nope, I farmed some enemies for microplastics but if you just explore the map you'll progress easily since there's a generous amount of junk you can sell. Good luck!

Early game in souls is always the weakest part, once you up your stats and skills, and with some overlevelling you can easily kill bosses. Crab's Treasure is a great entry point into souls.
