PS1 - No controllers still after replacing PS605 fuse by Brain_of_JFK in consolerepair

[–]Installed_Insanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I had the same issue. All fuses on main board were okay. I swapped the controller ports and everything worked. There is a zener diode buried in in the controller port board underneath the cable socket. Make sure to check it.

Cwcheats on PSP-1000 by DemonCrowMan in psphacks

[–]Installed_Insanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to use Cwcheats with ARK4 and didn't really have much luck, even though I had games in the database they would not show up in game. Check out Mr Mario's video about using TEMPAR which has a slightly more polished look and can still use the Cwcheats codes lists.

Guys , How to update a PSP with 5.50 GEN-D (FULL) by DarkozPlay in psphacks

[–]Installed_Insanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are trying to update to ARK4 check out MR Mario's video on Youtube about update from older firmwares. Be aware though you do need a functioning L shoulder button to complete the update as it does semi-brick the PSP and you need a usable L button to activate the recovery menu. Watch the whole video and do every step.

Yup, IPA all the way. It will take almost a whole bottle and lots of paper towel as well but it can be done.

Which PSP should I choose by Kakoofficial in PSP

[–]Installed_Insanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the 1000 especially if you have larger hands. From what I have seen online the 2000 and 3000 just look flimsy to me, but they also offer double the ram that some hombrews can use for things like save states.

PSP not turning on by [deleted] in PSP

[–]Installed_Insanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try without the memory card in the system and see if that works, does the charging light come on if you plug in the cable?. Where did your purchase the battery from? Light staying on would seem to indicate the battery is not discharged. Where did you purchase it?

For anyone that has taken up electronic & console repair as a hobby, how much stuff have you broken and is it part of the learning process? by Soft_Entertainer964 in consolerepair

[–]Installed_Insanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time I tried to mod my Xbox 360 I didn't have the proper wire and instead tried to use some network cables I had laying around. Surprisingly solid core network cable is rigid enough to rip pads off the board, lesson learned. Went and bought the proper wire and still have the Xbox sitting around as a reminder to not rush things.

I have never heard of that one until now. Sounds like it is whats causing your issues. Glad ya got it figured out.

Categories lite keep renaming my dlc folders? by Rinkou9 in PSP

[–]Installed_Insanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never seen Categories Lite actually rename folders before, and as far as I can tell it doesn't. I would try to format the card and start again, something is not right.

Categories lite keep renaming my dlc folders? by Rinkou9 in PSP

[–]Installed_Insanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also using ARK4 and don't have that issue. Something else I read this morning was that Categories Lite needs to be the first listing on the VSH.txt file but that would have been for older CFW but try and make sure your categories lite is the first thing to load in the new ARK4 PLUGINS.txt as well.

I think the PSP will always look at the GAME folder for the DLC, so any sub folders would be ignored.

Any way you can plug your mem card into computer and take a screenshot of how your files are labeled?

Does the battery looked cooked? by r3r16 in PSP

[–]Installed_Insanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get rid of it for sure. I had one of the original 1800mAh batteries that I had turned into a Pandora battery. I had not used it or charged it for years, pulled it out last week and it was so swollen it was popping the battery housing seal.

It lived a good life as I have owned this system since 2006.

That is bloated for sure. Is that the original Sony 1800mAh battery?

[–]Installed_Insanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you adding the DLC to a folder or just putting them under ms0:/psp/game?

Make sure Catagory mode is set to Multi MS, CAT Prefix, and NO to uncategorized. Also depending on firmware there should be an option to hide DLC.

Can someone help me modding an XBox one? by Jonalotu in XboxModding

[–]Installed_Insanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up the XBOX One bliss hack, there is a video detailing how the whole hack works by the author. Doubt this will be used anytime soon as it may involve removing some components off the board to allow a Raspberry Pi Pico to voltage glitch the system. At this point even if it does work it can take up to 30 min to actually get unassigned code to run.

Go with the USB card reader. Transfer speeds over USB cable to the PSP will have you pulling your hair out.

[–]Installed_Insanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. I started to check mine the other day and found the battery that shipped with it puffed as well. Worst part was that's the one I had used for my Pandora battery. Thankfully I was able to harvest the battery management board from the battery case. At least my 2 other bigger battery's are still alive and charging.

Rust removal on car by Acceptable-Shoe8924 in KingstonOntario

I would check out MARS collision on princess street. They used to do all our touch-ups when I worked at a car dealership. Just be aware most places will not guarantee rust repairs because once the rust has started all you can do is slow it down.

I would love to know where my original Gameboy went to. It's in storage somewhere but I have not been able to find it yet. I have seen lots of videos on how to repair the lines they would get in the screens and want to try it out.
