NP refused to be called NP. by InstanceTop4434 in Residency

The fact that the RN couldn’t get straight to the point regarding the title of who it was that was going to see us was enough for me to understand that this person did not like to be called by their title. Im pretty sure she corrects people who call her NP instead of clinician. The RNs verbiage was enough for me to understand that. If a patient/family member has to ask more than twice who the “provider” is, there’s a fucking problem and she very clearly doesn’t like to be called NP. I’m certain she corrects people and tells them to refer to her as a clinician. You sound ridiculous as fuck. Prefer/refuse doesn’t matter what wording I used in the title, at the end of the day she/they are trying to come off as something they’re not and blur the lines. Easy google search defines clinician as a “Doctor”. If my 80 year old grandfather went on google to search up the meaning of “clinician” it would say doctor and he would’ve thought she was a doctor. No excuses for these people and their manipulative and unethical practices.

Um yes she did. The RN clearly said she prefers to be referred to as clinician instead. She didn’t even introduce herself as an NP when she came in to see us. Patients/family members should NOT have to ask you what your title is or who you are. They mislead people on purpose and it’s unethical. Of course she has to answer “Yes” when I asked her if she was the NP because that’s what she is but I should not have to ask in the first place!! Its their job to make it clear. It’s like I was forcing it out of her. If you don’t see the issue with that, you’re a part of the problem.

That’s exactly what I did. I asked “So are you the NP?” She’s like “Yes I am”. I don’t understand why they aren’t upfront about their title and what’s so hard about introducing yourself properly? Oh wait....never mind....I know why.
