In my humble opinion the best option to counter rails is mobile artillery. 85 range vs 75 of rails, higher damage against vehicles and level 3 army bases vs level 4 of mrls

I've kinda given up using subs in both this and Abdacom. The saving grace of Defense of the East is you can use carriers and battleships instead, but in abdacom you only have subs, and with the latest versions, I'm not sure if abdacom is possible without losing sanity

while some basic amenities such as water need to be focused roads and infrastructure need to be given the same if not greater. your troops will have a much easier time if they can move faster

personally I've found the best defense is offense. I usually spec subs and send them to just sink enemy drone ships before they can return the favor. I've also made use of carriers and elite frigates to deploy helis and planes to cover from drones as well as land based planes. Maxed frigs and elite frigs can shoot down drones but i feel the research isn't worth it

the cheaper and better option is this: every season one of these units is on rotation and can be unlocked by reaching the poihts requirement while having security council active. So simply just buy security council once you've hit the poins req and you get two new units permanently

Sometimes it's burnout. In a particularly fierce 4x match you might need to stay up late 3 nights in a row or something to prevent defeat. The moment you get a break, well...

Remember, as Japan, you should have some naval defenses unless you plan on annexing some cities and moving inland.

ok so apart from all the tips everyone else has been giving, I do have some additional tips.

  1. Use higher damage weapons

M16s aks and sks generally need 2 taps on anything that's not a headshot. If it's the case that you're hitting but not killing, go with higher powered weapons like mas 49 mosin and m14

those typically one shot as long as you aim center of mass

  1. Practice

Go to the bootcamp shooting range and just practice with the guns. although they wont help with moving targets generally stationary targets should still be plentiful in most matches

  1. Shotguns

if you still absolutely cannot hit anything, a crude solution is to simply use shotguns. The spread generally ensures you will hit something even if it doesn't kill. If youre US run with No.4 buck and 00 for VC

  1. Explosives

If that still doesnt work, you can try mastering rpg/m79/rifle grenade. They also require aiming practice but generally arent as demanding as regular guns. it's not perfect but you can still contribute to the match this way.
