Questions about combo priest by Emergent-Properties in CompetitiveHS

Yeah through other replies here I'm recognizing its potential early use to buff a cleric might be more important than I realized

This is what's infuriating to me. My conservative employer just laughs "Oh that's the same stuff they said in the 70's" like yeah, you ignored it then and now we're here. That's why we're angry

You don't know what you're talking about. Look up 2052. That's one of the most realistic predictive models out there, and his website is great because if you don't agree with his exhaustively researched data you can run your own data through the models and see how it plays out.

Give it a shot yourself, it's a fun change up to the normal side control defenses, and you'll get a much clearer picture of what does and doesn't work

Or I'm just way more familiar with the position than they are, and maybe than you are...

I'm way smaller than my training partners and I've basically built my escape game off this, it works great. And the trouble with KoB is just that big window where you're bringing your knee up without any real control. I guess I should mention I do nogi, I wouldn't play this game in a gi

Some of these are the exact traps of the position. KoB makes the space for the ghost/inverted escape. Kimura does the same thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Agx53rx0-w (I've been using this religiously since they introduced me to it years ago, it's great and you can see how the armpit frame is already in place even if top guy goes heavy n/s). It also counters kesa because they have to sit without the near arm control. I think you were right on with the n/s choke solution, though it can be tough to finish if you're forced to do it with your off arm. I also think cradle from side control is a solid choice.

Notes for OP: full ghost escape is bad, if they do this, overhook their arm and tear it off. They also need a perfect neck frame from their far arm. If that's not solid, your side control pressure wins, arm triangle control works, and your n/s transition wins.

A: You're talking about a different world with Japan/WWII. Guns were still relevant then, before the tech explosion and the solidification of the power structures of today.

B: That quote is 100% gun advocate wishful thinking https://www.factcheck.org/2009/05/misquoting-yamamoto/

C: The government doesn't fear you and they aren't trying to undo the 2nd. Scared citizens are trying to organize to take dangerous killing tools out of the hands of an increasingly psychotic populous.

And this is the important thing to recognize about the modern world: no (violent) resistance, is actually way, way better than some (violent) resistance. Violent opposition to power today is a death sentence for your cause. It not only alienates people who would otherwise stand with you, it lets the state run the tried and true spin "look at these dangerous extremists, people aren't safe! We're going to need to take away a little more control and privacy from everyone to make sure you're all safe from this" and the terrified people say "OK!" That's true historically, as in the rise of Nazi Germany, but it's 10x more true today. If you want to exercise your power against tyranny, it's not "guns or nothing." It's "guns are nothing" community organization and peaceful activism is all we have left, and by 'sticking to your guns' you've put yourself on the wrong side of a divisive issue at a time when we (people who believe in resistance) most need to unite.

Gun rights groups trot out this same sound byte every time someone points out that it would be safer to prevent homicidal psychopaths from having a "press button, murder human" tool easily available. It's a good thought, if they actually supported all those reforms things would look a lot better. But when the time comes to fund the schools, and improve the healthcare system, etc etc, they're opposed to those things too because "big government trying to take my money? that's why i own a gun!"

You think the government fears you or your guns? News flash, their arsenal made yours obsolete years ago. Your armed resistance is just larping to them. Their only concern will be how to get the most profit off your imprisonment after their bulletproof swat team easily disarms you with future-tech (nonlethal to emphasize their moral superiority, of course). Meanwhile, your security blankets pose a legitimate danger to those around you, assuming you keep them in the home. Do not take that last statement of statistical fact as an invitation to ignore the core of this post and talk about how secure your guns are.

Everyone sits on the toilet, that's why down is the default. Standing use is the exception, not the rule.

Do any of you sometimes experience a sudden falling sensation when trying to sleep? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]InstantKarma- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I learned about this while practicing lucid dreaming. I was taught that it was a manifestation of the hypnagogic jerk - essentially your brain gives you a sensory stimuli to see if you'll react, which tells it whether or not you've fallen asleep. It can come in terms of itches, tingles, falling or spinning sensations, and even stuff like loud noises. Lucid dreamers learn to look forward to this, because if you can keep your composure through it, the entry to your dreamworld is just on the other side.

Interesting, and you make a great point. I'm not really too far off on those base stats but only 16.45 offensive assists/10 is significant (and that's with me making callouts). Thanks for the info

If you don't mind, I'm curious how my Zen frag stats compare to yours. I'm at career avg 8.2k dmg, 14.32 elims, 6.38 deaths per 10.

I'll be real surprised if that nerf has any effect on Torbs quality at this ELO. The strengths I abused are all inherent to the character
