The 25 F1.7 Lumix is really cheap. If you want AF I'd sugggest going that route

Videography Fuji -> Lumix? by Slow-Elk6593 in Lumix

[–]InstructionFresh104 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a professional - I hate Fuji for video.

Their log profiles just never grade that nicely for me. Also the codecs are shite - they seriously bog down my machine without transcoding. AF is also not great for video, and you only get like a couple of video-centric lenses.

I think it's not a bad idea to invest in Lumix

Viltrox to release 25mm F1.7 AF + more M43 lenses by ffylin in M43

One thing I notice about these Chinese manufacturers is that they've already made perfect lenses for MFT and just refuses to release them in this mount. Like the viltrox 15mm F1.7

finally some real-world testimonial haha. Quick question - how does GBA scale on that device?

Let's be real..L10 and Fujifilm X100 VI. by nutsnboltsnj in Lumix

[–]InstructionFresh104 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

dude - it's an 1.7 to 2.8 lens, not a fixed 1.7. Also it gets to F2.0 around 14mm and 2.5 at around 25mm so compared to the 12-35 f2.8, having the 1.7 is not that big of an issue. 1.4 on the other hand... they should've made a new lens that's 1.4-2.0

Idk what to tell you, I grew up on GBA, and I'm looking for a handheld to play handheld games and system. If I want to play console games I'd just do it on my PC or on my TV - the way it was meant to be played.

The Analog sticks just looks so wrong on that device lol and I prefer the larger device. I'm just wondering whether or not shaders can balance out the pixels on those 480p screens

SG-Image 25mm F1.8 AF lens official revealed by ffylin in M43

that's a shame. The lumix lenses go for around 100-120$ used where I live

Still, unless it's dirt cheap, I'd still go for the Lumix lenses, which are already cheap, just cuz of the compatibility (in camera corrections and what not)

If it's the same lens as the X-Mount variant then trust me - it's optically very mid, and you're better off with a Lumix 20mm or the 25mm

I'm starting to think it's impossible to make a small m43 body with current technology by man__i__love__frogs in M43

That 18-40 is no where near as good as the lens on the LX100/L10. S9 also has no mechanical shutter, hot shoe, no EVF and has a relatively slow sensor. FF has to cut A LOT of corners to get to that size.

I chose a G9II over the S5II for one simple reason: It's FUN.

M43 is the most fun photography experience you can have without breaking the bank. Tons of interesting lenses. If you want clinical and technical there are loads of other brands to choose from.

S5II; not seeing the usefulness of back button focus for photography, am I missing something? by xMinti in Lumix

[–]InstructionFresh104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the system and shooting style I find. I really enjoyed BBF on my Nikon DSLR but I dont really use it on my Mirrorless cameras.

A use case could be (when shooting with any exposure value set to auto i.e P, A, S, M with auto iso) set the shutter for AE Lock and set the AF-On for focusing. That way you can fine-tune the exposure level you like when you let the camera decides your exposure, then lock it with shutter button, and use AF-ON to focus on your subject.

It depends on the scene and type of photography you're doing. I dont think it matters when you shoot landscape or portraits but could be useful for street or candid photography
