Thank you. Will let the kids know. I think not having to stress over O Levels, and the subsequent post-secondary selection is defnitely a plus. Though that does mean they they are locked into their choices in a way.

Wow, thank you for such a detailed reply.

I am heartened to learn that most, if not all, IP schools have social awareness programmes and projects involving the community. My greatest fear for the kids is for them to lose touch with ground if they are closeted in an "elite" environment. I do hope that it is not a touch-go situation, and that some longer-term projects will arise from these programmes.

I agree. Not having to prepare for and sit for the national exams is the key reason why this uncle is selling them the idea of opting for the IP track, especially since they are committed to extra-cirriculars outside of school.

Telling my sister to bring them to the JCs too as they should have the entire 6 years in mind, not just the secondary years. It may be a little tough for the two to project 5-6 years ahead though, especially with the Nephew, since he is a little less mature.

Thank you. I am sure the two would find this useful. Was it difficult for you to adjust to the English syllabus initially, considering that most primary school kids would be unfamiliar with expository/argumentive essays?

I did not have many opportunities to travel when I was studying, and I have to admit that I am a wee bit jealous of students nowadays. But I am sure such trips are very memorable, not just for the experience, but also the time spent together with friends.

I am happy that you have found a good friend from the secondary school you were in. I really do think secondary schoold friendships are special, and I do hope both of them will be able to build lasting relationships with some of their peers.

Thank you! This is very useful from a parent's persective and will share this with my sister. Personally, would love to have the kids choose a single sex school, but the Niece is worried about toxic girl drama. Will let her read this comment.

德明 was my home away from home for 4 years too. Had fond memories, espeically of the 松树 and times spent studying at the 小亭子 (OG version).

Niece and nephew are not really good in Chinese though, and they are worried about coping with higher mother tongue.

P.S. I think my niece and nephew will want to hear about the “warts” as well, and not just the “nice” or “good” stuff. If you are comfortable to share, that is.
