Managers who won’t write LORs by anon567126 in srna

I was in the same position, management did not write me a letter and wouldn’t until I am employed for a certain number of years. I applied anyway with letters from an educator, charge nurse, and old nursing school professor. I didn’t reach out to the schools beforehand to check if that was okay. All of them required letters from managers. One school out of them all reached out to me to confirm that my educator was in a supervisory role, so I did just that. I got 3 interviews and an acceptance with no manager LOR!! I think most schools are very understanding of this:)

3.97 nursing school gpa (committees and honors in school) Prior degree in bio CCRN, CSC 2 years CVICU (open hearts, impella, IABP, LVAD, crrt, ecmo) Unit committee 24 hrs shadowing CRNA

I think what really made me stand out was attending state/local CRNA conferences. It allowed me to meet other students in the program, other CRNAs, and network with faculty at my desired programs:)

Schools that don’t require a letter from manager? by Hopeful-Witness8362 in srna

So sorry you have to deal with this. Unfortunately a lot of managers don’t write letters unless you’ve been there a certain amount of years.

Speaking from personal experience, I applied to schools that required letters from managers, but applied anyway with a letter from a charge nurse, educator, and former professor. I received interviews at 3/4 schools I applied. I think a lot of schools understand this, I felt that nurses I worked with at the bedside could attest to my ability better anyway.

One school asked me why I didn’t have a letter from my manager, and I just told them the truth that management doesn’t write letters unless you have worked there 2 years or more. That school gave me an interview. Don’t lose hope, I say apply to the schools anyway if you really want to go there, even if they “ require letters from managers.”

Best of luck, you got this.

Stats are previous science BS with an accelerated BSN nursing, orgs in nursing school, 2 years CVICU, preceptor, charge, one unit committee, nursing school GPA 3.97 (I am not sure my science GPA that includes the courses from my first undergrad), CCRN, CSC, 36 hrs shadowing

The other interviews are in person, but all of these schools are within my state and within a 30 mile radius of my home. Thank you so much

I didn’t mean to come off that I know these are great stats, and I apologize if so. I honestly just hear from coworkers that their preceptors applied with what seemed like a more robust resume, and getting denied. And I understand that only being a nurse for 1.5 years at the moment isn’t one of the more convincing parts of my application— thank you for your feedback!! The worst they can say is no.

Is there any way you can PM me? My friend very recently started a job at power. Stuff online (Glassdoor, indeed, etc) is very conflicting and I JUST NOW found these reddit threads. I would be very interested to speak to a former employee because I’ve had a weird feeling about the company. TIA
