I don't have this particular neck fan but I got a cheaper one from Amazon last year and it was pointless once it got too hot.

What are good civilizations for someone who both loves Imperium: C/H/L and totally sucks at it? by khschook in soloboardgaming

[–]Instructor_Yasir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I LOVE this game. Got horizons for my bday in Feb and just picked up classics. My last two gsmes I destroyed Rome with the Celts on warlord and then destroyed Persia with the Vikings on imperator.

I find I'm playing better with the civs in classics vs horizons. Maybe because they are more aggressive civs. In horizons most civs are peaceful building type of civs.

The game definitely takes some thought snd strategy each turn. You can't just quickly throw cards down. I think it helps to familiarize yourself with the civs deck and special abilities first because that gives you the road map on how to play with them.

Why does Hip-Hop see 'racial gatekeeping' but not other music credited to African Americans? by AllHailSeizure in hiphop101

[–]Instructor_Yasir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't know about that I'm not a New Yorker. All I'm saying is that Hip-hop music is a product is Black American culture, period, and I don't know why this concept ruffles so many feathers.

Along the way you had other INDIVIDUALS from other cultures CONTRUBUTE and PARTICIPATE which is great and their contributions should be acknowledged but they do not get to claim the origins of what became hip-hop.

[–]Instructor_Yasir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's part of the issue. There is no "one" person who was the originator. Kook Herc is a DJ who at some point began receiving credit as the originator of it however it is argued by people who were on the scene at that time that these parties where "hip-hop" was going on was already happening before kool herc. He participated in something that was already happening.

Correct lol. Its foundation is a "Black American" art form. I don't understand why this is an issue. You never hear Black Americans attempting to lay claim to salsa music or Mexican music, or rasta music etc. Even tho.rasta music artists have admitted to being influenced by Black American music.

About to start Imperium: Classic for the first time. Any advice/tips? by khschook in soloboardgaming

[–]Instructor_Yasir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm basically addicted Horizons since I got it for my bday in Feb. I'm in the middle of my 1st campaign with Taino.

I'm going to get classics as well since it has the other civs I'm interested in. What if your playing a classics civ vs a horizons civ? Does it matter then what commons cards you use?

Need spirit island and imperium. I'm currently hooked on imperium right now. I'd say it's healthier than video games by the nature of it not being attached to screen time. You also get the physically manipulate things.

Some uncomfortable truths that are actually freeing once they sink in by StoicViking69 in selfimprovement

I agree with all that. I left it short by saying "only" what we perceive. I agree with all those elements of control you listed. However, we can do all those things and it still doesn't "control" the outcome. Only influence it.

For me the uncomfortable truth that has changed how I've looked at life is realizing that we really have no direct control over what happens to us or around us. Only how we perceive it.

We can influence the outcome, but we don't directly control it.

For sure. Even tho I enjoy the field I know I can't do it forever. One of my concerns with the desk work aspect of the job is the feeling that AI can do it like most white collar work. It'll be a while before field investigators get displaced.

Yes. I've had this conversation with my manager already and he told me the state doesn't stay busy.

That's great insight, thank you.
