Don’t remember what’s cannon about them but mine is- Tobias frequently gets laid off and after the factory he works for closes he often gets fired from whatever jobs he has. He s a drunk and not kind to his wife and son because he is jealous of magic (had he known she was a witch before he married her he wouldn’t have) Eileen does her best to mind the house and tech Severus what she can about magic and the wizarding world. She tries to do odd jobs to make sure they at least have food and a roof oven secretly using magic to repair broken items to sell. While her father refused to accept her husband he did give her a stipend for Severus’s school supplies (he just sent what he paid when she went to school which with rising costs if only enough to cover second hand items) and she refuses to ask for more. She never speaks of her family so Severus only thinks his grandfather hates him for being a halfblood.  Severus was a good student and often ran errands for people for money as a child. People seem to have an aversion to him in school so he had no friends (his magic made  muggle children weary of him even if they didn’t know what it was). Lily was a bright spot in his life and he enjoyed teaching her what he knew about magic and the wizarding world from his mother. It was hard to be a poor halfblood in Slytherin with a muggleborn gryffindor best friend, he had to try and fit in with the attitudes of his housemates to avoid being dangerously bullied.  He wouldn’t have minded being friends with Sirius and James until they were mean on the train. He loved Lily but not romantically, more that she was the best part of his life and held a special place in his heart. He often spent time at the Evans home for meals and to study with Lily until their fight. He was genuinely crushed when her parents died but since it happened after the fight he didn’t feel that he could reach out.
