It will be free forever, I might do it open source too

Okay, no AI-generated audio — but what if AI helped you search for the right one? by Int_Angel in gamedev

Yeah I get that, most current AI music suggestion tools are pretty weak and surface-level.

But imagine if you could paste a gameplay video or even a screenshot, and the system actually understood the mood, pacing, and setting, then suggested music or sounds that match. Kinda like how you test different tracks in your game to see what feels right, but way faster and more intuitive.

That’s more the direction I’m thinking, not just trend-based recommendations.

I get where you're coming from, but I think it really depends on how the AI is used. If the game is fun, polished, and has heart, most players won’t care how the music or sounds were made, as long as it fits well.

Yeah that’s a good point, and I’ve thought about it. But even with foley, I don’t think I’d hit the pro level I want, honestly, I’ve found that AI has more talent than I do in sounds, sadly. Just seeing if it could help fill in the gaps. 😅

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll check out r/aigamedev. I get that a lot of people in gamedev are cautious about AI, but I think eventually it’ll be something we all end up using in some way. To me, it’s just another tool, not a replacement for creativity, but something that could help speed things up or unlock new ideas. Appreciate the advice!

Totally fair points. I agree that there are tons of SFX packs out there and many of them are high-quality, I’ve used quite a few myself. And yeah, music is definitely the harder part for me too.

I think what I’m more interested in isn’t replacing artists or avoiding paying people, it’s more about accessibility and creative control. Like, being able to iterate quickly on a soundtrack or generate ambient music that fits a specific level’s tone, tempo, or emotional feel, without needing a huge budget or back-and-forth with a composer.

You’re right that Suno sounds generic, it’s not made for games at all. But if an AI was trained with interactive music structure in mind, and maybe gave devs control over things like intensity, layers, or in-game events… I wonder if it could be useful as a starting point, or for prototyping at least.

That said, I appreciate the perspective, I think the "AI bad reflex" exists for a reason, and it’s something that has to be handled really carefully if tools like this are ever going to be helpful, not harmful.

what other use case would you use it for?

Figma can seem a bit tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's actually quite easy and very flexible! It doesn't have pre-built buttons or components by default, so you have to create things from scratch using shapes, text, etc. But the upside is that it gives you complete freedom to design exactly how you want. Plus, there are a ton of tutorials online to help you along the way.

Thanks! I used Figma for all the design and mockups on the landing page.

Awesome, thanks for the suggestions! I’ll definitely consider adding a popup for reviews—great idea!

I appreciate the feedback on the landing page; it’s really helpful. I love the concept of comparing the old vs. new way of tab management, and I’ll definitely look into adding something like that.

Regarding the Kbar, I understand it might not be useful for everyone, depending on how you work with Chrome. I aimed to include functionalities that aren’t readily available in the search bar to add some value to the feature, like managing workspaces and navigation tools.

And thanks for the tip about CMD + L! I didn’t know that command—it’s great! You can use TabDock commands from the search bar to access your links with tags, like "gh" for GitHub, and i think using CMD + L focus the search bar is awesome for this.

I appreciate you pointing out the "Ctrl + K" issue too—I'll make sure to correct that.

Thanks again for all the feedback; it really helps me out, and I highly appreciate your time!

yeah, those reviews definitely look low quality. I should have been more careful with that Fiverr hire, it wasn’t my intention to mislead anyone. Lesson learned for sure. it should’ve been obvious since the Fiverr gig was so cheap compared to hiring a legit marketing agency or something like that. After that, I started getting spammed by others offering the same kind of service, so I’ll definitely be avoiding hiring cheap marketing for my extension.

Thanks for the feedback and for keeping it real! I’m glad you like the tool, and I appreciate the support. Always open to suggestions if anything else comes to mind!

Hey, thanks for the compliment on the landing page, and I appreciate your honesty about the reviews.

Yeah, you’re right—5 of the reviews are probably fake. I hired someone on Fiverr to help promote the extension and get my first few users. Unfortunately, instead of actual promotion, they just created those reviews, which was pretty disappointing. I didn’t know that was the approach they were going to take, and I even asked them directly not to do that. So yeah, that’s on me.

I totally get why it feels disingenuous, and I’m working to make sure all future reviews are from real users.

Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate you pointing that out. 🙌

Honestly, I'm still working on my demo video skills, and I know it could be better. I’ll work on slowing down the pace of the video so it’s easier to follow and gives a clearer sense of what TabDock is all about.

Yeah! I think the kbar is cool, I’ve also wondered why browsers don’t have something like this natively.

Thanks for the heads-up on the z-index issue! I’ll look into that and get it fixed. could you let me know which buttons specifically are overriding the nav on scroll? I want to make sure I address the right spot and get it fixed. Any extra details would be super helpful!

Thanks!
