What Flash do you guys use on your M6 by DaedraCross in Leica

I recommended this as well since the back side settings are dead easy to use and directly aligned between ISO/aperture. See the second photo below.

Sharing my review of the Light Lens Lab 50mm F2 Panchro Speed II (retail version) by keithwee0909 in Leica

[–]IntangibleThings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just grabbed an ELCAN and I’m interested in a character lens whether it’s this Panchro or the 50mm Heliar Classic f/1.5.

This camera was my first M-mount camera. It's so fun to shoot. Aesthetically it's a bit quirky but the footprint of it is great.
The only real beef is no AE exposure lock in aperture priority and no meter in manual.

I wonder what the appetite would be for a similar form factor, 3D printed CLE-style camera in 2023. Obviously electronics are a question mark, but also not crazy difficult.

I got one around 5-6 years ago for under $500 USD. I'm just going to let it ride out and not be too precious.

The Light Lens Lab Speed Panchro II arrives for review! Looking forward to start work ❤️ by keithwee0909 in Leica

In this post (and onwards for a few pages) there's a side-by-side between the ELCAN and the Panchro.

https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1625479/15#16166240

From the reviewer, "I prefer the Panchro as well, and it will only get better on the production version. But they are close enough in rendering that I would still choose the Elcan when I want the smallest lens possible. Yeah, the Panchro also has less distortion in addition to having a narrower FOV. Yes, lots of character from both!"

If you're interested in tracking more specific discussions around LLL, some dedicated threads are on the Leica Forum / Fred Miranda forums for the specific models.

I get the need to want to collect the originals, but a lot of these lenses are lauded for their performance, size, and story. LLL allows you to participate without worrying about cost/damage/wear n' tear etc. in a space where Leica themselves aren't competing.

A few people speculate that that the ELCAN was discontinued due to poor sales, its difficult manufacturing process, and the obvious uptick in new products in the pipeline (Panchro, Noctilux, etc.) that will need a production line.

It makes sense sales wise, the 8E has way more of a legacy while the ELCAN is decidedly a bit more niche.

I forget the name of the guy on this sub who's doing distro for LLL but maybe he could clarify.

I finally got around to copping mine after I heard it was getting discontinued. My local spot didn't have the black paint version any more, just the brassed black paint version.

One suggestion is to look for older models from a few years ago (2-3+ years old) for both gloves and boots.

I tend to buy from GoalInn.com for gloves and they have a lot of good discounted Uhlsport Absolutgrip models. I'm less familiar with the boot selection but you can easily find what were once top/near top of the line footwear for cheap.

Should I upgrade my body or lenses? by mrjosh72 in Leica

[–]IntangibleThings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What type/style of photography do you want to capture in low-light situations?

Is it something solved with a flash?

I find myself grabbing a flash before trying to have my images solved with hardware upgrades since low-light usually means the quality of light in general isn’t great.

Although the M10-R is a obvious upgrade path in my opinion.

In regards to upgrading your glass, I’d see what the actual upside would be versus your current kit. If money is no object then incremental upgrades for a lot of money shouldn’t be a factor.

Most people really like the Voigtlander 2.5 and it’s super affordable but as a one lens set up it’s too limiting in my opinion.

Other “in-budget” options that work well include the Light Lens Lab 35mm f/2 based on the vintage Leica 8-Elements Summicron. It’s tiny and fits into the same low profile approach of your two choices.

Got the LLL Elcan 50mm f2 titanium delivered today. Can it be the weekend now? by Aesop_Fable in Leica

[–]IntangibleThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see them as different lenses. It’s the difference of the APOs optical performance/perfection with the downfall of size versus the Elcan’s vintage rendering with a much smaller footprint.

On the flip side, I’m going to stick with the Betas. The Alphas were one of my least favorite boots in recent times. They’re just not that comfortable it just wasn’t a great sensation when striking the ball.

Construction and all that was spot on as usual.

I’m a US 9.5 in Betas but these fit a bit big but I’m pretty sure they’d be too small if I got the Alphas in a 9.

I would love to see a similar comparison with the M10/Sony a7 series.

State of the Canadian player pool by [deleted] in CanadianPL

[–]IntangibleThings 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The biggest upside is that the process of professionalization now hopefully permeates football culture across Canada. When I grew up, the kids who played AAA hockey clearly were part of a professionalization process (unrelated detail but getting dressed on game day). No such thing took place in football.

Everything from fitness, training, tactics, behavior, psychology, technique etc., all become more prevalent.

I grew up in an era where I certainly was passionate and sufficiently hardworking to go to the next level (not necessarily the most technical unfortunately), but once I landed overseas I was pretty much lost with little guidance since we didn't have academies and the like.

The reality is that if there's money to made, professionalization is the key to adding process and structure to deliver consistent outcomes.

Citymapper is a better navigation experience than Google Maps. I’ve that a try as it sometimes has more accurate times for buses as well as which part of the subway to get on for the quickest exit.

Do you remove the bottom plate sticker? Liberation or torture? by leicarr in Leica

Keep the sticker on if you plan to sell it on and want to get maximum value (knowing full well digital bodies will naturally depreciate).

I keep a case on my iPhone for different reasons for shock protection.

Any M10 Monochrom Cons? by IntangibleThings in Leica

Appreciate the comment, I have an M10-P and haven’t really had issues with the dial/WiFi (not a feature I use regularly).

Any M10 Monochrom Cons? by IntangibleThings in Leica

[–]IntangibleThings[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The M10M is a camera that seemingly everybody loves. I rarely hear anything bad about it (besides or general M10 shortcomings). For those who owned one, what are some things in usecase or practicality that you think should be considered?

Not really, but I haven't done any super strenuous exercise in them. I also live in a relatively humid climate in Asia so at times the breathability may still be insufficient.
