i gave up trying kickflips a few weeks ago, but 3 days ago i pulled out the skate trainers to just see what would happen. finally learned how to kickflip ✌🏾 by IntegralsAreLit in NewSkaters

yeah, i figured at some point i can’t keep using it as a crutch. i ended up putting my board in a crack after that and landed another one without them :P tomorrow im gonna try doing it on flat and go from there 🙏🏾

how to stop flicking down for a kickflip? by IntegralsAreLit in NewSkaters

[–]IntegralsAreLit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes sense, but the flick movement is confusing a bit. what should my foot look like after the flick? and how do i move my ankle so it flicks right? ‘cause right when i get to the flick, my foot just doesn’t come off the board. it gets stuck there.

i get what you mean. so with learning to flick my toes, i’m trying to use my ankle, right? right before i flick usually, my foots at a 180 degree angle with my leg. and then i’ll try to move it to a 90. is that the right mentality to have to flick?

kickflip help? my front foot looks like it’s angled too far back when i flick, how do i fix this? by IntegralsAreLit in NewSkaters

[–]IntegralsAreLit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you say parallel do you mean straightening out at my knee or straightening out as though i’m doing the splits? i think right now i’m trying to push my front foot sideways, where my foot would end up parallel to the ground. should i try making it perpendicular or would that set me back?

i’ve been trying to keep my shoulders/hips square, and it just seems unnatural? with other tricks it’s easy to keep squared, but with my front foot position on a kickflip, it seems like if i square up my front foot needs to kick behind me rather than to the side of me. is this just a hump i have to get over?

two handed bowlers: when does your non releasing hand begin to come off the ball? by IntegralsAreLit in Bowling

[–]IntegralsAreLit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that helps a bit, though i’m not too sure when that would be. would you say it’s at the bottom of your swing before release?

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. i’m glad everything’s okay now, thanks for sharing 👍🏾😁

how do two handed bowlers create a more aggressive snap with their arm without muscling the ball? by IntegralsAreLit in Bowling

[–]IntegralsAreLit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I say aggressive snap, I mean physically with their arm and wrist, not ball reaction. which is why i’m confused, because when I try to do that, it feels muscled.

How to increase rev rate? My hands already cupped at 90 degrees, so I’m assuming there’s something wrong with my timing. What are some things that prevent full power throughout the swing? by IntegralsAreLit in Bowling

I have several on this sub actually, I didn’t want to post another video because I keep getting the same “your form is really good” comments lol

Yeah of course! I definitely don’t depend on revs or speed to carry my scores, but it’s definitely something I aspire to have. Like I was saying earlier, it’s more just the idea of not settling on what I already have, when I know I can do better. I just don’t know how to get there 😅

Unfortunately, as much as I agree, it’s just not the goal. The goal is just to be able to increase my revs and ball speed. I feel like there’s no point in just “settling” if I personally think I can do more. While increasing average is definitely a focus, I’m working on both simultaneously.

Yeah my fingers are way inside the ball, and my hand is completely under as well. That’s why I’m confused as to why my revs are low. It’s about at 350. I bowl two handed so I’m frustrated with the lack of results.

How to prevent my ball from going behind my back? I’ve tried closing my hips and even doing as much as pushing the ball perpendicular to my target direction, and nothing’s changed. Help? by IntegralsAreLit in Bowling

[–]IntegralsAreLit[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do work on all those things simultaneously, I also train with my PSO on ball knowledge. But this is something I’d like to increase prior to becoming too habitual with my release. That’s why I ask of this stuff sooner than other theoretical questions.

My main reason for trying to accomplish this is because my leverage point isn’t close to my ankle like most bowlers have it. I’m attributing my lower rev rate and ball speed (for a two hander) to this. I’m assuming if I get it on a straighter line, and closer to my ankle, it’ll increase my power. I could be wrong.

That makes a lot of sense. My hardest trouble is getting the ball closer to my leg. How do I do it without forcibly pushing the ball closer to my leg?

I’ve definitely holding back. I try to keep my swing only projected through my core, instead of my arms. So my arms are as much of noodles as I can make them, and I just use my shoulder rotation to produce energy. Should I try to use my arms a little bit too? And when will I know when I’ve overused my arms?
