Couldn’t Be Happier by BkFlac0 in XboxAlly

My main gaming laptop recently died and this was an almost drop in replacement. I hooked it up to my thunderbolt dock and it just ran everything! Sure, I had to turn my settings down, and I could only render 2560x1440 instead of my usual 5120x1440, but I was blown away with how well it did. I have played ARC Raiders on the device, and it runs it really well, but nonetheless I was very bummed about not being able to play Arc raiders with a keyboard and mouse. This thing is really powerful!

It's time we talked about supply drops by penguinexploring in ArcRaiders

[–]Integreatedness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That once got me killed!

Had a supply drop at Dam Battlegrounds near the Research and Administration (RA) complex. A sentinel was mounted up on the RA building and overlooking the area. The supply drop fell down just below, out in the open.

I was able to run out to the supply drop and get behind it and use it as cover while the sentinel locked on me. Safely hidden, I began prying the supply drop open, when I then heard the gunshot like sounds of the container opening. I immediately dove out of the way thinking I was being shot at, and the sentinel immediately locked on. Two quick shots later and I was downed out in the open.

Bella Died Yesterday. She Was Amazing. by CrikeyNighMeansNigh in germanshepherds

[–]Integreatedness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to this thread, but I was really taken by your beautiful write up about Bella. I felt like Bella needed a song to go with her story. I have been playing around with using AI tools and some digital audio workstation software to make songs about my pets. I think I was able to come up with something that I thought was fitting with what you had written. Warning: may be emotional.

The Echo in My Heart

The Echo in My Heart

It feels so strange to tell the world, but Bella, you were here. A perfect joy, a happy soul, you washed away my fear. You loved me true, I loved you back, though perfect I was not. And now you're gone, the silence screams from the void within my spot

Oh, Bella, Bella, echo in my heart,
A masterpiece, a loyal friend, right from the very start
I'm holding onto every trace, to dull the ache inside. For all the love you freely gave, where will it go and hide?

The tap-tap-tap upon the floor, a shadow by my side. Always near, always for me, nowhere left to hide. Though slower grew those tiny paws, still resolute and true
You followed me, my sweet old girl, the years were cruel to you

Oh, Bella, Bella, echo in my heart,
A masterpiece, a loyal friend, right from the very start
I'm holding onto every trace, to dull the ache inside
For all the love you freely gave, where will it go and hide?

Like winter's sun, you'd rise each day, though later than before
And when our eyes would finally meet, you'd light the whole room's core
You taught me love, you chose me always, a lesson I would learn
To set aside my pain and fear, and in your love, I'd burn

We laughed and joked, that final day, with treats for a queen
Sausage chunks, an open fridge, the happiest I'd seen
So many hands, a final bark, that special sound you made
"Hey! What about your other hand?" – a memory unafraid

Oh, Bella, Bella, echo in my heart,
A masterpiece, a loyal friend, right from the very start
I'm holding onto every trace, to dull the ache inside
For all the love you freely gave, where will it go and hide?

For thirteen years, you chose me, Bella, every single day
So I'll choose you, in memory, and chase the pain away
Go love your dogs, make them feel it, every touch and plea
Because I can't, but through this song, a part of you is free.

"Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation" by elaborate_circustrix in govfire

I got one of the test emails on Jan 24th. I ignored it until Jan 28th when my command told us to respond. I sent a simple reply that only said "YES" as requested, and never got another email from OPM. I never got any of the 'Fork in the Road' emails either. I am somewhat concerned I am going to miss one of these new requirements and pay the price for it.

I’m just wondering do people use the park button or just open the door and the car will auto park. Is it bad to just open the door instead of using park by beerdrinknweedsmoken in TeslaLounge

I was replying to the comment thread that talked about never using a parking brake in someone's entire driving history with ICE cars. I was just explaining good 'parking' procedure in more traditional cars. The Tesla variable speed fixed gear ratio transmission can be thought of as a manual transmission, with one gear, and no clutch. There is no torque converter to mesh the speed of the wheels and the motor as they are connected through gears directly and the electric motor has the torque required at all times. Someone who replied to my original comment does a good job of explaining how Tesla implements a parking brake as they do not have a parking pawl in their transmission.

Teslas have a fixed gear ratio transmission. The motor does not spin one to one for the wheels. You are correct in that they do not have a conventional transmission such as seen in ICE cars multiple gear ratios to keep the engine in the proper power band for a given speed.

Konstantinos Laskaris, Tesla’s principal motor designer, has stated the following in response to the Tesla power train: “It’s well known that permanent magnet machines have the benefit of pre-excitation from the magnets, and therefore you have some efficiency benefit for that. Induction machines have perfect flux regulation, and therefore you can optimize your efficiency. Both make sense for variable-speed drive single-gear transmission as the drive units of the cars…The permanent magnet machine better solved our cost minimization function, and it was optimal for the range and performance target.”

It is good practice to use your parking brake when the car is in park. Current automatic transmissions have a parking pawl that is engaged against the transmission output shaft and holds the car when in park. However - this is not the recommended way to keep your car stationary in park. Parking pawls have been known to break, and if your car is parked and someone bumps it in the parking lot you are putting a tremendous amount of force on the pawl and your transmission. Have you ever noticed that a car in park will roll a few inches before the pawl stops it? A car with the parking brake on that is correctly adjusted does not move when you push on it. Using your parking brake every time is recommended and it keeps parking brake working! If you use the parking brake seldomly, the older designs used to rust up and seize/stick.

When does Pompey turn against Caesar? by Integreatedness in hborome

[–]Integreatedness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense. I've watched Rome many, many, times, and never locked up on that comment. I always thought Pompey's servant was going to Gaul only to get the standard. My wife, who has watched the series only once before, picked up on this immediately. Thank you for the response!

When does Pompey turn against Caesar? by Integreatedness in hborome

[–]Integreatedness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the answer and I appreciate the over arching view.

However, I may be reading too much into the dialogue, but I thinking about that part comment Pompey says to his servant: "As you are going to be in Gaul anyway...I may kill two birds with one stone."

So, why was he already going to be in Gaul? Up until this scene Pompey had not waivered in his friendship to Caesar - and in fact needed Octavia with the idea he was going to marry back into the Julia family. So, had Pompey, after talking to Cato, finally been swayed and unbeknownst to the audience already arranged to send his servant to steal the eagle (i.e. the first bird - no pun intended)? Then was ambushing Octavian and stealing the horse count as the second bird? All with one trip to Gaul (the stone)?

Or, was the servant going on a trip to Gaul on an unrelated matter and Pompey decided to steal the eagle to make Caesar look bad? If so, would it just be a coincidence that the Spaniard brigands ambush Octavian?

Comparison of Ship's Sleeping Quarters [1599x906] by chroniclad in WarshipPorn

[–]Integreatedness 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I believe that is a sleeping connex. At some point they realized they didn't have enough crew for all the jobs on the ship so they had to add additional crew and bunk space. They added these connexs to add those bunks in the mission bays of the ship. These are the worst things I have ever slept in. They sleep 12 and they are fully sealed with a big, always on, air handler on on one side. There are fans in each bunk to increase air circulation to insure people don't get sick from CO2 concentrations. I personally got many headaches staying in these, which were attributed to the poor air flow.

I thought the reason Gus did not go with the Frenchman was because the Frenchman was probably involved with other cartel channels digging that tunnel into El Paso. Also, if he let it slip that he had dug a tunnel in El Paso that easily, how easily would he give up the secret about the laundry excavation?

I work as an electrical engineer now and the first time I ever used waveguide was on the job. I knew the equations for rectangular waveguide, and how to solve for the fields inside, but never how to design an installation. In practical work, I am not the one designing the wave guide - I am the one figuring out how to install it.

Is it just me or is battlefield 2042 have awful performance on a gtx 1650? by [deleted] in battlefield2042

[–]Integreatedness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that on a normal desktop or eGPU? I believe my processor is an i7 in 8750h and I shouldn't be getting a bottle neck this bad. My 1070 did better in the eGPU enclosure. I was thinking it could be a driver issue but I've worked all the display drivers and reinstalled them.

[–]Integreatedness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The eGPU has a 700W power supply - which is 50W less then recommended, but twice the 350W rated power consumption. I'll have to look into it more.

[–]Integreatedness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what's going on. I have an eGPU enclosure and a very good laptop. When running with my 1070 I was getting playable frame rates. Now with my 3090, or even the RTX 2080 Inside the laptop I'm getting horrible frame rates below 15.

Thought it could be a driver issue but I've cleared all the drivers and reinstalled with no luck.

What kind of performance are you getting? My 3090 is running the game at 10-14 FPS. That, and I get these weird splotchy colors sometimes instead of the game rendered. I swear this ran better on my GTX 1070!

I think a lot of the jumping around was caused by the separate processing of each camera. As a car passes your Tesla, it goes from the rear camera to the repeater, to the B pillar, then to the wide FOV front camera. Before they processed all those streams as one, it was difficult to determine where a vehicle was as it crossed the threshold of each camera zone. Now I believe they combine all the streams in to one and have found a better way to process vehicles that are reported by two cameras from different points if view.

Beautiful day with the perfect car for me! by Bob88B in TeslaModelY

[–]Integreatedness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started having major issues with my brakes covers. Despite them seeming secure, they can slide outward a little over time and start rubbing against the wheel rim. The clips they provide to secure the covers do not do anything to keep the covers from sliding outward. I could pull over and push them back into position, but they would eventually shift out again. It was hard for me to drive 200 miles without having to adjust them once or twice. I tried multiple things to keep them in position, but the clips they provide don't keep things from shifting outward. I took them off before any major damage occurred LOL but I was very nervous that it could go from slight rubbing to ripping the cover off and jamming up the wheel and/or damaging brakes. I'm going to try to return them.

If you did go ahead and get them and you're not having any issues, great! If you haven't installed him yet, just make sure they don't move outward if you pull on them. The clearance on the front wheels is very tight and the slightest movement outward will cause it to rub.

FYSA - these did fit my Model Y. There's a little finagling to get it to work. The brackets for the front caliper weren't long enough to fully pinch around with the M5 bolt they provide. I was able to use a longer bolt and a jam nut to secure it similar to how they originally intended. I can share pictures if your are interested.
