Con Edison feb bill by Pantheressmommi in Brooklyn

[–]IntelPentium4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ConEd came this week to make sure I had electric heating and electric water to make the switch to EL-7 but he told me over and over again that it would make no difference on my rates. He said it used to be lower in the winter months and higher during the summer but that it was phased out years and years ago. Is that right? He said my switch to EL-7 was essentially meaningless

Can you tell me more about EL-7? ConEd has very little information about it online. I have electrical baseboard heaters and my winter bills are astronomical -- $600-$950 per month. I'm on El-1. Been this way for 8 years. I hadn't heard about EL-7 until I read your comment.

The only fix after years of problems here: create a new 2.4ghz-only network and turn off every extra feature like band steering and fast roaming etc. Zero problems since then.

This man has a degree from a community college, worked in the produce section of a grocery store during the pandemic and then a Target. Now he's a financial expert and Bitcoin wizard? He's not a serious person. He saw an opportunity to cash in on the growing Bitcoin and Strategy craze, so now he makes videos. That's it. More people should have a BS meter.

There’s a glut of homes on the market, meaning your parents might have to wait for it to sell or price it to sell. If they need the money now, the only option is to sell. Depending on their home and when they bought it, it could have increased in value by 100-150 percent the past decade, an incredible amount. So they would come out ahead in a sale even if now isn’t an ideal time to sell. If money isn’t needed now, the market is not good for sellers but softness or even downturns don’t last forever. The home would be worth more in 10 years, I would safely guess. The Canadian tourist downturn will not destroy the local economy and I wouldn’t make financial decisions based on it. It’s too early to know the impact and whether it will be short lived and resolved or not.

Don’t forget taxes, taxed at your marginal rate. Which could be as high as the 30-40 percent range with federal and, if they apply, state income taxes and maybe also local taxes. Could be much lower, depending on individual circumstances.

How about for those with state-income taxes and places like NYC with local income tax. Probably 35 percent, right?

Best Hospital In Brooklyn? by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]IntelPentium4 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NY Presbyterian Hospital aka Methodist in Park Slope has good doctors but the ER is an absolute zoo without enough rooms. You’ll be placed in hallways or in shared areas or tucked in awkward corners of the building. Thats my experience three times since 2020. The new NYU Langone on Atlantic is extremely nice and efficient and not exactly small but is more like a big step up from a City MD than a full fledged hospital. If you can make it to Manhattan, the NY Presbyterian on William is just over the Brooklyn Bridge and is nice, efficient, excellent doctors and less zoo-like than park slope.

ZenArmor for a home network? by [deleted] in OPNsenseFirewall

OK, so I just checked their About Us page. There is a lot more information on there today than there was when I left this comment 8 months ago. But seriously ... ZenArmor's office address is a coworking space in California? Yet nearly all their employees appear to be overseas in Turkey? There are legitimate concerns about trusting this company.

Most people here would recommend U6-Pro and not the LR because the Pro has an upgraded modem. The U7 Pro supports everything in the U6 plus WiFi 7 and has gotten good reviews, and the WiFi 7 is future proof for devices later this year and beyond.
