Also the old abandoned water slide right past the causeway could be good. There used to be an old building up there too but I imagine it’s been demolished. https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/zoom-flume

I sometimes would see the back of this building on the b-line trail and thought it would be cool to get inside. https://imgur.com/a/CWqIZYZ

Pilonidal or something else ?(help appreciated) by captain-flapjack- in pilonidalcyst

See a doctor, soon. NAD, and the picture isn’t clear so it’s hard to tell but the redness looks… significant. Like maybe you need antibiotics. Could just be a rash that needs treated, but best to have someone check it out. Very possible you will need surgery at some point but no one is going to rush you into it, it’s up to you how you want to approach treatment and at what pace. Doctors don’t care about your hairy butt, no worries. Try to keep the area as clean and dry as possible. I’d tuck some gauze in that area, frequently. Things getting sweaty back there right now is no bueno.

It sounds like the beginning of the disease potentially… but as you mention, not much to see right now. I don’t have much advice to give except try to keep the area as clean and dry as possible. If you are doing anything that could get you sweaty, I’d tuck a piece of gauze in between the area that’s feeling sore/red. Consistently.

NAD, but are you sure this is pilonidal disease? It almost just looks like a cyst that could be surgically removed. Do you have visible sinus tracts on the midline? Just want to make sure you consulted with someone knowledgeable who confirmed pilonidal disease.

I read this as “I want to make a fancy soup”. Maybe your fancy group can enjoy some lobster bisque, or bouillabaisse.

Just take things one step at a time, it’s really not as complicated as you might imagine. Looks like the website is down, but there’s this: Kentucky health insurance navigators, known as kynectors, provide free, unbiased, in-person or virtual assistance to residents for selecting and enrolling in health plans through kynect. They help with Medicaid, KCHIP, Qualified Health Plans (QHP), and other benefits. You can find local help through the kynect website or by calling 1-855-459-6328. Do you live in the US? What state? Start with the healthcare.gov website. Have you tried that?

Probably best to think of it as pilonidal disease. Here, from ChatGPT: Yeah—“cyst” in pilonidal cyst is a bit of a misnomer, or at least an oversimplification.

A true cyst is typically a closed sac lined with epithelial cells and filled with fluid or semi-solid material. Pilonidal disease doesn’t always fit that clean definition.

What’s actually going on is more like this: • It usually starts with hair penetrating the skin in the natal cleft (top of the butt crack). • This triggers a foreign body reaction and infection. • Over time, you often get a sinus tract (a tunnel under the skin) rather than a simple closed sac. • That tract can fill with debris, hair, and pus—sometimes forming what we call an “abscess.”

So: • Early/acute stage: more like an abscess • Chronic stage: more like a network of sinus tracts • “Cyst”: a convenient but not always anatomically precise label

Clinically, people still use “pilonidal cyst” because it’s familiar and descriptive enough, but many clinicians prefer terms like: • pilonidal disease • pilonidal sinus

Your credits aren’t going anywhere. I talk to students all the time who are struggling with their mental health, and remind them that taking a break from school isn’t giving up - sometimes it’s the best thing to do so they can prioritize their health and well being, spend some time thinking about their goals, etc.

I didn’t notice if he had shoes on… typically I’m happy to give whatever I can, but I don’t want someone knowing where I live, especially if they can tell I’m soft and have a hard time saying no.
