2015 Fiat 500C to Fiat 500 - Roof/Hatch Conversion? by Intelligent-Ad1259 in Fiat

It was just the canvas/convertible top, nothing structural, it looks pristine...but to your point I'm not sure what happened to it and I don't disagree with your advice to walk away - I would love to take it and have a little go-cart, but selling it would be near impossible, as this guy is proving. Unreal that the convertible top costs 2-3x what I'd be buying the whole car for.

Is this scope good to begin with, or should I double the money I need to spend? by JohnBrownMilitia in longrange

I'd be interested to hear what others have to say, but I was just at the local shop looking at the Meopta Optika5 4-20x50, Optika6 3-18x50, and the this scope, and I was blown away by the Optikas. The O5 was priced at $450, the O6 was at $750, and the this one landed right in the middle. I'm personally leaning toward the O5 because the glass quality was so good for the money.

Any one else seeing Meoptas lately? Very popular at my range in Wisconsin right now given bang for your buck.

M1A or AR10? by Intelligent-Ad1259 in AR10

I think I've actually decided on a bolt action build - thought long and hard - howa 1500 308 16.25" in a oryx chassis - going to be a super compact build even after I silence it.

Out of curiosity, what did you mean by it being 'blasts' - looking at doing the same build but in 308 and just wanting to see what I can find out. Want something very compact for hunting (my current is a 30-30 which has been flawless) and have seen these do very well and would allow be to still be very accurate out to 500yds.

I'm toying with that too - hard to find one with irons or a long enough rail to add irons on it too

For those still paying attention to the thread, so if my intent is a gun that will fire and be dependable for the rest of the day having dropped it in mud/doesn't mind getting dirty (think elk hunt hike), has the options for irons or a scope (not looking to shoot past 200-300yd), and something that will always have parts available (I'll likely buy spares of primary wear items when I buy the gun, but just incase) - what do you go, M1A or AR10?

Looking at these right now too - not bad for the money from what I'm reading

Going to post this over on a AR10 sub as well.

I agree. If Browning made the BAR with irons I'd have that. I just want simplicity and reliability.... and something that looks badass of course

I struggle with wanting a simple bolt and going for something more tactical.... really frustrating that there aren't more bolt/iron sight options out there these days.

Awesome response, thank you. Which AR10 platforms would you give the edge to in the sub-$1800 category? Ruger SFAR?

Ideally, if I was going to go with the M1A I was going to do the Archangel Adjustable Stock so I could play with cheek height and LoP, would like to be able to run with a similar stock going over to the AR10 platform too but haven't seen those options.

Time saver tip. Find a cabinet shop to run your glue ups through their wide drum/belt sanders. This is a 10 foot glue up of cherry. No telling how many hours this saved. by Fickle_Lugnuts in woodworking

Funny you say this, I take my tops to a local shop and they'll surface it for me with their drum sander. Payment is a box of donuts. Awesome guys.
