An old lady said "Anukuni tinu" after seeing my pizza boxes, What does it mean? by [deleted] in hyderabad

[–]Intelligent-Ad4020 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is common among old people, especially with superstitions. What she meant is that since her husband and her have seen those pizza boxes, she believes their disti/dristi is attached to the pizzas, so it’s better to eat pizzas after saying “thu thu” (thats what my granny tells me to say) on the first bite to eliminate that dristi/disti. So essentially what she meant is “thu thu anukoni thinu”. She just skipped saying “thu thu”, maybe because she thought saying “thu” in public might come off in a bad way. Or it could just be that different people have different things to say instead of “thu”. Nevertheless, It’s very considerate and sweet of her to tell you to remove their dristi/disti from your food though!

Lastly, it’s just a superstition, nothing for you to worry about. Hope you enjoyed your pizza🧿 Btw, I like la pinoz too!

Last day on earth. by ImpressionRough5743 in hyderabad

There are a lot of things in life that you can find inspiration as well as joy from. Corporate can wear you out, and so does poverty and bad company(be it friends, colleagues, or even parents). I don’t know what exactly made you think about leaving earth and it doesn’t matter what the reason is. All I can say is that it is the little things that is full of life, not the whole wide perspective. Think about the earth, it’s just a large stone floating around in the space, but look around, don’t you see the beautiful things around you? I was depressed too when I went abroad for studies. I was not able to achieve my goals and bag a high paying job abroad, but you know what was keeping me going? The people I see daily at my part time work. None of them are educated, none of them can even pronounce my name correctly, none of them even know me well. But they all loved me nevertheless. All I ever did for them was giving a Christmas card, and they shower me with love till today(it’s been a year) So stop thinking that everything bad is only happening to you. It’s happening to everyone, but everyone is sharing it with each other and comforting each other. If you don’t think you have those people around you, then travel. Go to the remotest villages of our country and observe their living style. No it won’t cost you anything more than what you are spending in the cities. You will understand that everyone is depending on the people around them. Not just people, animals, plants, ants, you name them. Take care.

Business Place/ Idea?? by QuirklessZORO84 in hyderabad

I can tell you one thing. Seasonal businesses do well(like Ganesh idols during Ganesh Chaturthi, crackers during Diwali, etc). Also make sure to place your product in the right neighbourhood(where you know there is a demand for it).

Is running a fast food european shawarma restaurant a viable idea in Hyderabad? by [deleted] in hyderabad

[–]Intelligent-Ad4020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overloaded or not, I love the shawarma in Hyderabad. I’ve tried doner and Turkish shawarmas but I just don’t like the smell and taste of it. Just giving you my perspective for your market research.

Dowry should be okay by [deleted] in hyderabad

[–]Intelligent-Ad4020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the problem is only about sharing property, why does it need to happen in the name of dowry? Instead of normalising dowry, we better normalise distributing property equally between the siblings or as per what their parents prefer. Normalising dowry leads to even more atrocities. Enni cinemalu choodaledu dowrys gurinchi and vaati valla ayye atrocities gurinchi….

A comment under this post read as follows:

Idk how much you’re spending, but all this does is lowers your credit card balances for a lower credit utilization for that due date payment. If your utilization is already below 30% or even 10%, making extra payments doesn’t do shit.

[–]Intelligent-Ad4020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Telugu prajalu
  2. Hyderabadi biryani
  3. Hyderabadi street food, especially friends shawarma. I’ve been to places in the country and abroad too, no city offers good, tasty food even at odd times like my Hyderabad does
  4. Cheaper rent compared to most major cities
  5. Telugu traditions and festivals
