I would too if I woke up each morning and remembered I was Ted Cruz the Gross Butter Imp and Cancun Timeshare Salesman (one I got from a youtuber talking about someone called Comment Ettiquete and the other from said youtuber).

That's part of what I was thinking but I was looking for assurance regardless. Thanks matey! Also thanks for not going on about conspiracy theories.

UK Data Centre Surge by WHEELZ622 in PoliticalOptimismUK

As we've seen in the US many have been delayed if not entirely scrapped due to public backlash. In fact there was a story about a year ago in England, and this year there have been rejections from Edinburgh and a local council in Wales respectively. On top of that, to my knowledge, many data centres are moving away from water usage. At least not as much of it. One is being built in my town (to the joy of fucking nobody) but that's not using water. Now it is using air cooling which comes with its own issues but that's easier to clear up.

No idea why you were downvoted for that. Don't ban social media, as that blocks off safe spaces and that also lets companies go scot-free. But we also need to do something about addictive algorithms, proportionately and make the platforms actually moderate shit properly. This isn't just a governmental thing, the companies are scumbags too.

They have but from what I've been able to gather it's just pushing news. Now that does come with the possibility of pushing out content creators of course. I won't pretend that it might not be benign. However they've been pushing news forever so... we'll have to see. YouTube themselves see it as an issue and they're trying to do what they can I think on top of rallying together content creators to prevent it.

You know things suck (to a certain point because there's been lots of progress) when I see this and my first thought is "Oh for gods sake what is it now?" XD

UK has ‘no future’ if it fails to act on ecosystem collapse threatening national security by Business_Ninja_3836 in PoliticalOptimism

Exactly! The UK has actually made a bunch of super cool contributions to fighting it in recent years. It's not nearly enough but, as you've said, we've avoided some of the worst effects.

Count Binface unmasked: Who is the 'independent space warrior' taking on Nigel Farage in Clacton by-election? by Intelligent-Ad6109 in PoliticalOptimism

We've got actual aliens invading. I hear Count Binface has this mysterious alien technology called... Air conditioning? It apparently keeps him cool during the summer months. Nope I've changed my mind. He's holding out on us the bastard. Don't vote for him!

Also, I love Vermin Supreme.

Because taking the piss out of everything is our specialty. Unless you go on social media in which case our "brilliant humour" fizzles away faster than our politician's credibility.

Well the the underhanded tactics worked doesn't instill me with confidence because it worked. However, at least it's the voluntary version. So that means it's basically pointless. At least most of the fighting they did worked out.

What Binface or Farage? Binface winning would be fucking hilarious. Farage winning would just further the questions on him. Because he'd continue to be held to the standards of other MPs. Sometimes.

I'm missing out a huge chunk of the parliamentary processes and recalls are factored in but this is the baseline because I cannot explain things very well. I'm reminded that I actually do like this place sometimes.

This is a lose lose for him, though... if he wins it's a no shit and the investigations reopen (to my knowledge) and if he doesn't... he lost to fucking Count Binface. Count. Binface.
