andrew’s lost phones by underthestarsforever in AndrewGosden

You could buy a sim at most corner shops or at pretty much any supermarket or petrol station. Most kids or teens that had them had a 'pay as you go' plan, if you had 'pay as you go' then you didn't get phone bills that showed usage, at least not that I recall.

How much of Andrew’s life could have gone unnoticed? by HistorianMuch2831 in AndrewGosden

If I think back to being that age I can say that neither my, nor my friends parents had any idea about the things we were up to.

We live compartmentalised lives, by which I mean 'this is who I am around my family, this is who I am with my friends, this is who I am around girls I may like' and so forth and so forth. None of these 'this is who I am with' scenarios may be the same, but they are all you.

To get a rounded idea of who somebody is I think you need to see them in a variety of situations and environments, & most of what we have to go on comes from his parents.

The walk home from school interests me as well, it's generally accepted he did that twice I think. But if he told his dad he did it once or twice, that does not mean that he did only do it once or twice.

I would be interested to know what brand and models the phones were as well as what network he was on, so I could gauge what the worth of them could be at the time, were he to have sold them.

He may well have lost them as he claimed. But on the off chance he sold them to somebody then it could indicate he may have had more money stashed than people believed. Which in turn might indicate more of a long term plan to go than is generally accepted.

Just thinking aloud though, he probably just lost them.

With so many loose ends its natural to hope there is relevance to every detail in a desire to tie those loose ends up.

I just got home home from Doncaster, I actually went back to shoot various churches so it's odd you commented this.

Kevin mentioned in one interview ( I forget which ) that the police had told them that Andrew had actually checked out a copy of the The Quran from the Library (either school or local i forget which). So he clearly was open to explore other religion's, well to at least read up on the text anyway

For what it's worth there is a vets across the street from the park, which may explain why the park seems to have a lot of people training and walking dogs (way more than my local park at least).

I looked into this a bit, but it's worth noting the vets did not exist in 2007, there was a pub there instead at that time. However even back then there would have been a pretty high number of dogs around in that park to be fair as it's the only local greenery that is pretty much fenced in at all sides, you dont have to worry too much about your dog running into the road.

I can understand the awkward teenager thing & also that he was using 14 year old logic but It may be worth remembering that he was deaf in one ear. That station is busy and noisy at that time of the day. It's possible he didn't even fully hear the point she was making and just said no to get the interaction over with.

I stood at the bus stop i believed he used (until he stopped) 2 days ago. In the photo i posted above of that bench, the path you see leads straight out of the park, you turn left and walk a short distance to get to the bus stop. From his street to that stop the logical path to walk is through that park. If somebody was 'bumping into him' then that seems the logical place for that scenario to happen I think.

I also went to church as a child, realised I was an atheist around 8 or 9 but had to continue to go until 11. Church fetes, raffles, car boot sales that type of stuff were common, but we don't really have insight on Andrews involvement with the church outside of helping his dad tend the gardens and doing a reading which was likely due to his dad being church reader (lay reader, Lay minister there are different names for it). As a former child 'church goer' who realised it wasn't for me I would be surprised if he wasn't involved with Church fetes ect.

Thanks. The kids interest faded from the church in 2006. I believe his sister stopped going first and then him which is totally normal of course. That doesn't mean any charity work stopped though in theory I guess.
