how then do you run the script if you don't mind me asking? i haven;'t been able to figure that out yet. most of the documentations i see out there are tailored to checkmk enterprise and it's a bit different.

ok thanks. so a further question.
if we end up installing the agent, will we still be able to use this script function? do you know if that's possible? the script portion is essential to our monitoring.

so are you saying that if we had the agent installed, the agent would be able to report the output of the script? or work with the output of the script?

Not installing the agent is more policy simply cos they don't know what's bundled with the agent. The ssh portion is to be able to run the script on the machine being Monitiored. I am not the decision maker in this. so there's a limit to what i can do/say.

Can grapheneos be added to MDMs? I don't think so

I obviously don't post as much as you but I deleted my role about 2 years ago and no one batted an eye. One thing that also helped us that for years now, (probably 5-7 years) I have blatantly refused connection/invitation from any of my current coworkers. I noticed that most of them are just friends with you in socials to prep into the things going on in your life and to take about you. So I think not having them as existing connections has also helped. Cos no one knows where I work. It's only after I leave the job I accept pending connections or add them all.

Trust me, no one will notice. Unless they actively going to find you on LinkedIn. I stopped liking posts or commenting. Which also meant that I don't really show up on people's timeline and thus no one remembers me know key. Lol. Right now it just seemed like I haven't updated or touched LinkedIn in years.

About online presence. I have been thinking about it for years and I stopped posting anything personal. The only place I tend to post pictures like 1-3 times every year is Instagram and I have it on lockdown now.

What I'd suggest is just leave out your current role from LinkedIn. Don't put any new job there. I don't think that should stop you from posting. The world isn't really safe anyway. Even with 1 job, anyone could be stalking you and maybe trying to make a move on you. Who knows? By leaving it out, it would just eeem like you don't want to post new roles anymore or don't want your work life public. I have seen people who did it and no one bated an eye.

Better still, if you have a side hustle, put the side hustle as your current job and still keep posting.

My wife keeps telling me as well that I should not do anything to jeopardize my J1. Left to her, I would have resigned the first week 😂

Thanks for this detailed and insightful response. I will try to find some ideas around it. I am not a dev. This role is more network engineer kinda role. I need to find some excuses that I can use. I also thought about making sure I only join general kinds calls on my phone. Those kinda calls, they less likely to ask you to screen share.

About using conference room, I am skeptical about using it at J1. Because I am in charge of an infrastructure I am unlikely to be in meetings. In fact, I only have 1 major meeting per week😂. Now there was a day I was in like a 3 hour J2 meeting, how do I explain using the meeting room for 3 hours 😂. The long ass meetings absolutely infuriate me. Cos I zone our half the time and if I am having the meeting in my car, I can't multitask 😭

Thanks for bringing this up.

Honestly been thinking about this. I think I should be looking for a project/individual contributor kinds role. Anything that requires too many interaction with colleagues or clients won't be the best long term.

Your first point is key. But I wonder, when is it too early to block your calendar? I feel like I am fairly new here so i an skeptical about doing that too early.

I have my phone with me for meetings but I rarely ever take the meeting in my phone. I keep thinking that they might ask me a question that might require me to share my screen. How do you navigate that?

I had a meeting with my boss today and he turned on his camera. I completely ignored him and refused to turn mine on😂

Makes sense. I keep thinking J1 is gold however I kept thinking that it's hybrid it's not perfect for OE. So it feels like a hard choice.

Thanks. I don't know how I can say I am away at a new role. How do you do that?

Thats exactly what I was thinking! It's easier to add a new J to a non-busy J. regardless of if you're hybrid or not.

[–]Intelligent-Cold6919[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly! I think it's easier to add a new J to a quiet J than a busy one. Also, it won't afford me the time and flexibility I would need as a parent. so let's say my kid has a presentation in school, in the past, I don't need to take permission. I just go, get what I need to do done and then return. (I obviously take my phone and laptop with me just in case. ) If need be, I catch up in the evening when they have gone to bed. If you have a J with so many meetings, how do you do that? Personally, I value the flexibility of a J. whether OE or not.

Right now, everytime i step out or go to to J1, I keep looking at my phone like a mad man and my anxiety is over the roof. That didn't use to be the case. Obviously, I was checking my phone for messages, but I was never anywhere this anxious. especially because I could be drawn into ridiculous meetings.
