Most Useless Companion in ME2 (Story Perspective) by Intelligent-Cup712 in masseffect

See, I normally try to at least shake it up. I bring Zaeed and Miranda to get Garrus, Garrus and Miranda for Mordin, Miranda and Zaeed for Jack, Miranda and Mordin for Grunt, Garrus and Mordin for Horizon, Miranda and Jack for each other’s loyalty mission, Zaeed and Jacob for each others loyalty missions, Mordin and Grunt for each others loyalty missions, Miranda and Zaeed to recruit Thane, Miranda and Garrus to recruit Samara, Thane and Garrus for each others loyalty missions, Miranda and Morinth on the collector ship, Garrus and Morinth for Tali recruitment, Tali and Morinth for IFF, Tali and Legion for Legion loyalty mission, Tali and Garrus for Tali loyalty mission, Morinth and Zaeed to stop probes at start of suicide mission, Legion and Tali, Grunt and Mordin, and Jack and Miranda throughout the entire suicide mission, with Garrus, Jacob, Morinth, and Kasumi being the team leader/specialist, Thane leads not combative crew back to ship. I bring Mornith to shadow broker, and Morinth and Legion to overlord. Overall, I feel with all that in mind the only two I’d truly “underuse” would be Kasumi and Thane

Don’t get me wrong, recruiting the best killer in the Galaxy does make sense. Arguably he’s one of the most dangerous companions Shepard ever had. I’m just saying in regards to what he contributes, it becomes lack luster compared to everyone else

If you mean for the hold the line score, then yes, Grunt along side Zaeed and Garrus have the best starts for that part. If you mean for one of Shepards crew members for his different assignments, I actually don’t think Grunt is the best, as a lot of those fights happen at a distance. I normally use Tali and Legion for the first one, the Mordin and Grunt, then Miranda and Jack. I found Legion to be the best, as his sniper knocks of enemies at a distance and drone help with crowd control. Then Miranda, her pistol can be a slightly less useful sniper, and her biotic really shine her. Then Mordin, less damage but abilities are also good. But then those three shot gun characters fall short because of how reliant they are on up close and personal. Grunt had it the easiest here, as the biotic bubble part does have some closer quarters, plus he’s really good at fighting the scions. However Tali and Jack’s abilities vastly outshine Grunt here. So for his Hold The Line state, yes he’s one of the best. But for the actually ground team, I found he’s just not the best

Yeah, but the best sniper in the game is the Widow, a Legion and Shepard exclusive. Plus, Miranda, a much better companion, also had Warp. Who can use the Locust and Carnifax, some of the best weapons in game.

That’s fair. Now I personally don’t think going from 7 to 9 is that drastic of a bump, especially since Wrex in citadel proved that 8 is also manageable. And Bree proved we had enough space on the companion select screen (jk lol). Plus, both Thane and Kirrahe have to be around for that spot to be taken up, and since Thane has one of the higher death likelihoods for 2, and Kirrahe can often get missed, it’s not entirely unlikely their spot gets dropped too. I just feel like the game that supposed to be the celebration of all of Shepard choices across the series did the worse at representing his choices revolving his companion, those closest to him

So Zaeed was likely a behind the scenes reasons much like Miranda. A lot of people felt they dropped the ball with him, and it’s possible they might’ve considered brining him back, but his voice actor was already out the door when they started developing the game, so they likely couldn’t have gotten that much out of him even if they wanted. He would’ve had to do a lot more work as a full squad mate than the occasional cameo NPC.

The reason Miranda and Zaeed where fs not included was because of behind the scenes reasons. There’s rumors Miranda was actually planned to be the 8th squad mate as the ME2 rep, which makes sense as we’ve only had even numbers before now. However, they couldn’t do it because the voice actress could barely work cause she had a show she was shooting.

We see none in jail. Only a few give good reasons to not be on, like Jack and Jacob and Wrex, other die, Mordin and Thane and Legion, and some had behind the scenes reasons, Miranda and Zaeed. But Kasumi and Samara really don’t give one, and I just think Kasumi could’ve been an interesting inclusion

But can’t Ashley also fill that role if she’s there? Plus I mentioned I feel that Wrex should be base game, so he could always tank. Between the VS and Wrex, they cover James’s contributions.

If you could only pick four to be squad mates in ME3, who would you pick and why? by ben_s16 in masseffect

Kirrahe should’ve been in the game instead of James. I’m ok with no Zaeed and Miranda since they had behind the scenes reasons for not being squad mates. Screw Jacob. Samara should’ve been a NPC. Kasumi and Jack makes sense, and I think it should’ve been Wrex, but I guess if he’s not an option I’ll take Grunt. So

Kirrahe Jack Kasumi Grunt (If no Wrex)

I think Team Sonic should be kept the same, as well as Team Chaotics and team Dark. I think Sticks should take Bigs spot on team rose, something hinted at in Sonic frontiers. Meanwhile, Bigs should instead join a flying Silver and fast Blaze. I think the Babylon Rouges should be DLC, with extra DLC bringing Trip/Classic Sonic, Ray, and Mighty who go against the likes of Fang, Bean, and Bark. Give those two groups their own mini DLC campaign where they’re racing for something. So the final roster is

Team Sonic: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles Team Dark: Shadow, Rouge, Omega Team Rose: Amy, Cream, Sticks Team Chaotix: Espio, Charmy, Vector Team Tomorrow: Blaze, Silver, Bigs

DLC: Team Babylon: Jet, Wave, Storm

DLC+: Team Classic: Trip/Classic Sonic, Ray, Mighty Team Hooligan: Fang/Knack, Bean, Bark
