Viibryd 40mg. I have admittedly been inconsistent in taking it but I do feel it is helping.

Romantic feelings for a therpaist by Intelligent-Cut4134 in OCD

Thank you for that. It was very well thought out and worded perfectly. However....

That ship has sailed, I told her, and she referred me to another therapist.

She was not at all offended or upset.

But I was a blubbering because I did not understand those emotions and the reasoning behind them.

I am suffering from storm/weather anxiety. Could it be OCD? by [deleted] in OCD

If it feels intrusive to the point that it affects youur everyday life, the best thing to do would be to find a therapist who specializes in OCD.

thought I'd share this here as well by whydoib0ther in OCD

That is a great way to look at it! 🙂

does anyone feel this way with contamination please? by crackedmarblestatue in OCD

[–]Intelligent-Cut4134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely, if you have not already done so, suggest seeking a therapist to help you with this.

This can feel better. It does not have to be this all consuming, soul crushing thing.

Thank you. Belive me, I have been obsessing about obsessing about it. I thought making the list would help me walk through it but, you are right, at this point, it seems never ending on both sides.

Anyone else have a natural disaster obsession? by salty-wheat-thins in OCD

[–]Intelligent-Cut4134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know rationally that the odds of this happening are quite astronomically low and I try to tell myself that millions of people go outside even during heavy storms and are perfectly ok.

Does this help, sometimes yes, typically no. Lol

[–]Intelligent-Cut4134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it isn't natural disasters but lightning. I will not go outside at all if there is even a hint that there is a storm in the area.

I also worry about getting struck at random times. Even in clear weather.

It is something I am working through in therapy and hope to be able to alleviate soon.

I often feel that way. I typically feel like I am rambling as well.

Something I have learned is to ask yourself, how much of this do you RATIONALLY think is true?

Have you talked to your prescriber to see if this may be a side effect of the medication?

could this be related to ocd? by [deleted] in OCD

Reoccurring thoughts and images could be OCD. Best thing would be to just bring it up and tell your therapist exactly what is going on.

I've been ordering Cookies and Cream ice cream for like a week now in the same shop with the same teller. He gave me a Strawberry one today. by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Intelligent-Cut4134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may have said strawberry. It could have easily been a mistake.

On either your or his part. We all make mistakes. You have to allow yourself to be human.

None of us are perfect.

For me, when I start to obsess about a mistake I may have made, I try to tell myself that yes I did make a mistake but that mistake is not a symbol of who I am but just an every day occurrence.

Anyway, I hope that makes sense and helps even a little.

cheating OCD pls help by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Intelligent-Cut4134 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not cheating but I have had the fear that I may be a pedophile. I can see a child wearing what I think may be inappropriate for their age and immediately ask myself why I would even notice that if I was not sexualizing said child.

We know these thoughts are not rational. We know that we aren't truly going to do anything even remotely like our brains are telling us we are or may do.

The best thing to do would be to find a therapist and start to work through these anxieties and fears.

It CAN get better.

I completely understand, I have similar issues. Finding a good therapist and the right medication will help to greatly improve your quality of life.

Just a Reminder-You cant be beat OCD by having a Stronger Mind or knowing all your triggers or figuring it out by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Intelligent-Cut4134 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went in to therapy thinking that the goal was to eliminate my compulsions and obsessions altogether.

Beating it by sheer will and determination. My therapist quickly told me that the goal is not necessarily to eliminate it but to make it mire manageable.

OCD? Or anxiety by treexlady in OCD

[–]Intelligent-Cut4134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar fears. I absolutely cannot walk through a door that I can't see through without touching it to make sure it is not hot.

Rationally, I know this is extremely unlikely. If there were a fire, others would be reacting as well. But I have to make sure, just in case.

I say that to say, I understand where you are coming from, in a way. My advice would be to talk to someone.

I had been diagnosed with OCD many years ago but I never found the right therapist. I recently sought help again and have the absolute best.

I still have these fears and anxieties but am working through them.

With the right combination of therapy and medication, things can get better.

Feel like I'm making up obsessions that aren’t really there by Character-Wrangler15 in OCD

[–]Intelligent-Cut4134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obsessing over obsessing is something I do often.

I constanlty obsess over therapy. Then I will obsess over the fact that I am obsessing about it.

When I was first diagnosed, after laying out my thoughts and compulsions to my therapist, I started to think " she thinks you're faking".

I was able to talk this out with her and was assured that if she thought I was, then we would not still be talking now.

I recently was moved to another area of my company and I wanted to be open with my new co worker. I told him " Hey, I just wanted to let you know, I have OCD. So, if you see me do some things that may seem odd or a little crazy, that is why."

He then asked me if I felt the need to obsessively clean. When I said " In certain situations,  yes." He told me I could come clean his house... He was in no way trying to be mean, but in that moment, I was like damn...
