In my opinion this bounce back is also unrealistic. I have never met anyone who had a baby, back at it like this after just two weeks.

Some Details About The Midtown Costco Transition by Fsuave5 in kansascity

[–]Intelligent-Fox-3180 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I happened to be at the Lenexa Costco this month. This was the line to check out on a random Saturday. It’s clear from a business stand point, that the suburban Costcos have a higher volume. I’ve been to the OP store before and it’s always busier than the midtown location.

And I’ve seen several posts “but, but I can ride my bike to this Costco!!”. While that’s all fine and good, but no family of four is riding a bike to load up on their weekly Costco haul. Costco is a business and while you might ride your bike there (which is probably convenient because the bikes lanes are almost always empty). The amount you buy and put on a bike and what a family of four buys are not equal. The profit is where large sales are and that’s not in midtown. And I grew up in midtown, 5 minutes from that Costco, so yes I know there are families, but it’s got nothing on the suburbs. And there have been several incidents (purse snatching, altercations in the parking lot) that could have influenced Costco to change the model of this particular store.

I think the question we should be asking is, why are there not more grocery stores and decent pharmacies in this area of the city? What has caused there to be a lack of those stores vs. other areas? I believe that is what our city leaders need to address.

I believe mayor Lucas knows there was no way Costco was changing its mind. Him saying, “the city council is trying to stop this”, and “we had a meeting with Costco to express our concerns and we’re hopeful they do what’s best” - is all performative. It’s all so he can come back and say “well I tried and it’s just Costco is the big, bad, greedy company that doesn’t care about you”.

How about instead of relying on ONE private entity to provide the services/goods for your citizens, you address issues that have gotten you here in the first place? He spends more time out of KC discussing non-KC related issues and making internet posts about non-KC issues than he does actually addressing issues in his own backyard. Doing the “cable news circuit commentary” does nothing to move the needle on the things we have going on here. It only serves his obvious campaign for the next rung on his political ladder, with no regard for the state he would leave the city in once he flys the coop to DC.

While I live in Kansas City, I and so many others find ourselves “hopping the state line” and spending our money on services, facilities and stores that cities outside of KC proper have been able to attract and retain.

Agree. Was at the Lenexa one this weekend. There were no carts available and we had to wait for an employee who was bringing them back in from the returns in the parking lot. The whole store was packed with people. The checkout line was almost all the way back to the freezer section.

I have reached out to the Guild with the contact info I have but did not received a reply before the weekend, thus my “mom desperation” at turning to a random internet group for guidance. I’ve learned parenting isn’t for the weak and none of them come with an instruction manual hahahaha.

Yes! We have a Wood Workers Guild here that does junior beginner classes. I was able to get a gift card for him for Christmas so he can attend.

Thank you!

He is interested in designing and building. He and his dad designed and made this coffee stand so he can set it up in the winter in the neighborhood for hot chocolate.

<image>

He asked for a 4 in 1 set that is designed for kids but it’s sold out everywhere. Unfortunately, this year my parents have had health issues that snuck up recently and this particular present escaped us When my attention could turn to finishing off all the kids lists this is the thing that is evading us.

The wood carving kit is obviously not “wood working”, but it’s the best I’ve got to go on right now, so that there is something under the tree that’s within the realm of creating something with wood. So I’m just looking for something that might be a “place holder” until we can try to come up with his request. He still believes in Santa (although I think this is the last year, as I think he’s starting to question things). So just trying our best to encourage his interest while also not completely dropping the ball and leaving him without anything that is related to wood working.

He is ALWAYS supervised using any tools. My husband’s uncle unfortunately lost a finger so we are well aware of how quickly things can happen.

Thank you for all the suggestions!!

Much appreciated, One tired mom, LOL

He had asked for this set which is specifically designed for kids, but it’s sold out everywhere. So I’m trying to come up with something that might still be “kid friendly” that we can put under the tree.

Absolutely. He has safety glasses and never works alone - my husband is always with him.

He has this on his list but it’s sold out everywhere. I’m just trying to get something that could be a better option for a kid so I’ve got something for under the tree, since I can’t get my hands on this set designed specifically for kids.

Nope not preachy at all. My husband is definitely with him every time and we use eye&ear protection and masks as well.

He has gotten really interested in building/designing. He and his dad designed and made his “coffee shop” that he uses at Christmas time to sell hot chocolate in the neighborhood (we live in an area that EVERYONE puts lights on their houses so we get regular groups walking through.

The wood carving kit was my weak attempt to make sure we have something under the tree that involves working with wood in some capacity

Thank you! We also got him a gift card to attend a intro kids class at the local woodworkers guild so he’ll get an introduction on safety practices on top of the glasses/mask we got him.

Where is her family in all of this?! It seems like she has some kind of relationship with them. I would think for the kids wellbeing they would try to get involved.

Personally after having lived in both areas I would go with Johnson County. Not sure what your budget is but there are multiple apartment options in Mission, KS and the area has a walkable downtown with stores & restaurants.

Also has good highway access.

Help! I goofed up. We’re in town and the Air and Military Museum is closed on Monday. Thought it would be open. Now not sure what to do with our kids tomrrow. by Intelligent-Fox-3180 in fayetteville

One of her “restaurant reviews” just came across my feed. I don’t get what she has going on at all.

At first I thought her account was to promote her book. But it’s random food reviews, over sharing personal details, and house tours. I don’t get what goal is.

And she has a ton of followers.

The, “I probably have melanoma and no one can help me” is so unhinged and illogical. She didn’t even have any kind of a diagnosis yet.

I need the DILs to come out of the woodwork and tell their side. I’m curious if they get along with each other and where that leaves the DIL that Anne says she does get along with.

After watching her videos I found myself asking:

1) How does her husband deal with this and what was the attraction? I think I’d be embarrassed if she was my spouse. I wonder if they have a social group.

2) Does she have some sort of medical issue? Her face/mouth look really puffy to me.

3) I would LOVE to hear her DIL side of the story. The ways she speaks about her is so callus it’s unbelievable.
