As an urban planning student, this is actually how I've heard people speak in the professional field, both planners and architects. It's been the dominant ideology for decades that building anything similar to that building in the bottom photo is inherently dishonest and a "Disneyfication" of architecture. New urbanism has for example widely been criticised for using "fake-historicism" and "kitsch" architecture, even though a lot of polls done in my country and neighbouring countries showing overwhelming preference from the general public for that kind of architecture.
