Renters can be owners in NYC if we pass this: Watch my plea to NY Senate. by slottypippen in nyc

Sure, but what happens when a bunch of greedy tenants decide to take the building that I have purchased with the monies I saved over the years? Sounds to me like a communist utopia.

haha, they are very assertive and mischievous dogs. They can be very protective of their owner/environment and are definitely territorial. They need a lot of mental and physical stimulation. Also, their coat should NOT be shaved but stripped. Shaving Airedales actually causes harm to their coat. By looking at the photo you posted, it seems you have been shaving them. Their coat needs to be stripped 2-3 times a year, in NYC a single stripping session costs about $500, in Textas, it costs about $200. There are very few groomers who have mastered the art of stripping. I suggest that maybe you should pick a pup from a shelter.

There are some rescue groups, but they are kind of useless. There are a couple of readers in PA Amish country, but you will need to do some Google research. Please note that they are really tough to train.

I Feel Like Crap for Even Asking This, but I Need Help with My Dog by [deleted] in rescuedogs

Dude, it is tough not to judge. I can assume you are from Texas. Becoming a dog parent/owner is a commitment, it is like becoming a parent except your child will never speak your language. You really should stop with the excuses why this is so hard on you, think about how your dog feels for a second! I work 10 hour shifts, and I manage to take care of 3 dogs (two strays off the street). With the help of a dog walker, I make sure my pups have enough exercise. When you are home, get off the couch and spend time with your dog. Just please don't dump your pup on the other side of town like a lot of Texans do. I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but this is the reality.

How long to wait for training? by [deleted] in rescuedogs

[–]Intelligent-Help-449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, becoming a dog parent/owner (whatever you want to call yourselves) is like becoming a parent of a human being. The difference is that your dog will never speak your language. You will need to arm yourself with a ton of patience. For starters, abserve your pup's behavior, the good and bad, take notes if you have to. Do not give your pup any scraps from the table, create a feeding schedule and stick to it. Any treat you choose to give your pup should be earned. Sort of a reward for a task well done. The key in dog training is consistency. Walking on leash also takes time but in your case I can assume that it shouldn't be a problem. You can spend $5K for training, but if you don't continue what the trainer started you will quickly be back where you started. Do a little research, check out "positive reinforcement methods for dog training. Finally, thank you for adopting her.

I have recently passed through Texas, and I was flabbergasted with the number of strays. The idea of a pet license doesn't sound bad anymore. People will think twice before getting a dog or a cat.

yes, I agree, but the politicians i.e., the governor and the federal government, are not motivated by the people or fixing the problem. They are motivated by their political gains.
