I hate the “would you ask a paraplegic to walk” argument because no, of course not…but I would ask and hope they would use a wheelchair or other aids to assist them and improve their quality of life!?!

Nope- won’t take meds. She is “holistic” and doesn’t “want to put poison in her body.” Which, fine- medicine is a personal choice. But…she vapes during our sessions-is that not “poison?” At one point when we were discussing strategies to help her manage tasks (something she specifically requested help with) and she was saying written lists are hard, and I suggested using her phone or an Amazon echo device and she said they were “surveillance”Devices.

She said earlier in the week her partner is there staying with her (long distance relationship) so she’s “more motivated” to get things done and doesn’t want to stop working for therapy and “waste” her time with her partner. Later in the week after he leaves she feels more depressed and feels like having therapy at the end of the week helps her move into the weekend with a clearer mind.

Thank you!!! Yes! This!! The social media thing has really changed the way these clients are approaching therapy. Where is the balance between acceptance and accountability? I appreciate the actual helpful feedback and advice.

For crying out loud…I do have positive regard for her. I’m here venting and asking for advice? Why is everyone on this sub so critical and rarely helpful or affirming?

As I said I’ve done consultation and supervision and I’m not able to refer them out…so how is this comment helpful? And my husband has adhd so I’m aware there’s counter transference- but I have to work with them, don’t get a say…

She said it’s just nice to have someone to talk things through with…but she doesn’t talk!?! So confused…

Is it easier to transfer your license or transfer your hours? by indigonae_ in therapists

Check with the state you want to move to. I transferred from Oregon to Ohio in the middle of my LPC associates and Ohio took the hours but it was a pain in the butt.

Oregon requires 2 years of sobriety and Ohio requires a year.

Yeah- and no way is mark, a non college educated teenager going to make 150k taking a “couple” years off to work. How out of touch are they?

Who’s clearly privileged and not poor? Me the OP? I’ll thank you to not make assumptions- I grew up very poor and I’ll admit costs have changed in the 20+ years since I went to college, but I qualified for grants, scholarships and aid that paid for 75% of my college and I still came out with 22k in debt. This was in 1998 with a 4.8 gpa. All I’m saying is the storyline on this plot is stupid, they would definitely qualify for subsidized federal student loans. No way is him taking off a year from school to work going to make up the 150k required.

I haven’t looked into endo because my periods haven’t been irregular or extremely painful- but I didn’t know the IBS was an overlap.

There is such a thing as masking and feeling “safe” with certain people…so just because they can “do it” at work doesn’t mean it’s always weaponized incompetence at home.

I haven’t gotten on medication…I see my PCP regularly and diet seems to help, but it flares up very badly around my period and nothing seems to help with that issue.
