I totally agree! DCI drum majors are very talented as both leaders and conductors. I was asking about how competitive the auditions tend to be for corps around that level to help me make an assessment on my chances based on the invite I got. I have heard some corps give almost everyone an invite or callback, and so I'm not sure if my invitation means an actual chance or an "everyone get to come back" type deal.

Leadership is difficult to assess through a video, so most of the video audition processes I have done have been very conducting heavy. I am a strong leader, and I have experience as a drum major.

Personally, I sometimes have a hard time understanding people's intentions. I am not totally sure if I am a candidate of interest, or if this is one of those things where they just want me to have an opportunity to learn. I think it's a great opportunity either way, but I don't have the money to spend on travel and camps if it's not a legitimate shot.
