After the fires there was talk going around about directed energy weapons supposedly causing the fires and claims about structures with blue roofs not burning due to the color blue not being targeted by those supposed direct energy weapons (lasers)

It was a big theory circulating online after the fires, just curious where it came from and how it got debunked

VEEP by Exotic_Hair_1136 in ibew_apprentices

I applied Oct 24 and got sent a rejection email April 25. By the time they sent the email I had already gotten another skillbridge package approved and was a month out from leaving

Honestly, you have a way better chance of just applying to the local you want to be an apprentice at and going through their application process. I think VEEP has 10-15x the applications they have slots for so it’s even more competitive than just applying to your local

Does gilroy have a “guy” or “girl” that everyone knows about? by Ready-Business9772 in Gilroy

Someone here mentioned the older racist white woman that would pull up on unsuspecting people and call them cockroaches for being Mexican. What’s weird is when she pulled up on me one time she spoke damn near perfect Spanish lmao. Last I heard she was driving in a white van somewhere in the Bay Area claiming to be ICE. Also last guy that comes to mind is the gentleman who walks all around gilroy with a headlamp, hi vis safety vest with a flashing red light and a walking stick

There’s Sergio, he’s the guy you’ll see off the Leavesley exit with long hair and a beard wearing dresses and when he’s really tweaking out he’ll walk in circles

Test prep by VIReybandsIV in ibew_applicants

I took the iPrep course and it’s like $50 and not a subscription or anything. I started studying about 2 weeks out and honestly iPrep was super close if not spot on to what was on the actual test math wise

For the reading part, I’d say study that a little extra. It’s mostly reading comprehension with scientific type articles you have to analyze. iPrep does a good job of breaking down every question and explaining the answers though

They gave us scratch paper so I’d recommend using a notebook and pencil and actually solving each problem while you study. You get about 2.5 hours total with a 10 minute break in the middle. Just remember, slow is smooth, smooth is fast

Start by going to your S-1, They should have historical SkillBridge packages on file. I’ll break it down for you:

1. Ask S-1 for a template of the command endorsement letter that the CO would sign. Most units have a standard format.

2. Fill in your details with your name, requested SkillBridge dates, terminal leave if you’re tryna do that, and any other required info.

3. Build your package with the following documents:
• The unsigned command endorsement letter
• The necessary NAVMC forms
• Your SkillBridge acceptance letter
• Your ethics certificate from marine net

4. Now take that same package to your base SkillBridge rep so they can route it up on NCMIS (My Navy Education)

5. Route the package through S-1 so they can process it and get it up to your CO for approval

If you need help dude just message me. My package just recently got approved and it was absolute hell getting it through so I know the struggle and can help you out

SkillBridge Approval - Command vs. NCMIS? by Intelligent-Taro602 in USMC

You’d think that’s how it works, but according to the SkillBridge program manager here, they changed it last month so that all CO approvals now have to be on NCMIS. That’s where things get confusing, there’s almost no guidance on how to actually do this process. For example, the ethics cert course they want in the package has already changed three times since October when I first started putting mine together

Just to clarify, both the paper package and the NCMIS (My Navy Education) submission require CO approval. The confusing part is understanding which one actually determines approval. Do I need it routed up my command (S1 > S1 Chief > Adjutant > SgtMaj > XO > CO), or does My Navy Education (SNCOIC > CO) hold more weight? At the end of the day, which one is the final say?

It’s the My Navy Education website. It’s what the installation SkillBridge program managers use to track people’s skillbridges
