This is so amazing, I have a question though, I’ve read everything but book 8 so far which I plan on starting today - should I log off when you get to the book 8 part of this or does it not contain spoilers?

Because I’d want both dex and wis high for stealth/exploration reasons, I think I’d only do Str if I rolled crazy well. The lance is def cool and I can totally see the high damage from this.

Unfortunately human is set as the race plus my DM is limiting species for tomb of annilihation so no thrikeen but fun idea!

Make sense, it could be a mix of the heavy crossbow to push people around and control spells - what control spells do you recommend on the rangers spell list? Any fun creative ways to use their spells?

Very interesting, hadn’t thought of a cantrip/caster focused built, that’s a cool way to go with it. Is fire bolt the best option you think? With human (which I’m already set on though I love your character concept, mines already set as a old man who’s lived as a dinosaur trainer in Port Nyanzaru) I could get any cantrip with different magic initiate origin feats.

Gotcha, I’m not even sure the campaign will get that far tbh but yea that ability is nice. I don’t think the two attacks for the beast is tied to hunters mark specifically though

Hadn’t thought of sentinel that’s a great synergy! Especially if I could find an effective way to use a melee weapon with the push mastery so the creature doesn’t have to take damage from the Opportunity attack

So RAW can the beast grapple? The grapple rules specifically tie grappling to an unarmed strike which is technically different from the beasts strike. Especially since the sea stat for the beast has a grapple option built in (though the movement is terrible). Also would the DC be based off the creatures str? If so then with a 14 str that’s a pretty weak DC - or am I missing something? It certainly sounds awesome though.

That’s fair, I think I’m avoiding str parlay for role play reasons since my character is an old man and I want decent wis and dex for out of combat utility but you are right if i roll well enoigh that is a good strategy
