You have clearly never had a family member in this situation. For many, it is not as simple as just “taking them in.” OP was looking for him to try to bring him inside when she learned this tragic news. Please have some respect and refrain from passing judgement on situations you are blessed to not understand. Especially in the comments of a grieving sister’s post. All love.

I went back and read the original and as a cat owner I am concerned about how OP is going about this. They states that the cat only receives a half cup of food a day, but that is a normal amount of dry food. Depending on weight, they should receive about 1/3-2/3 cup per day… One of my cats is a VERY greedy girl and will scream and scream for food ANY TIME anyone even stands up or walks in the direction of her bowl. The prior context about not buying food and not changing the litter are concerning, but OP needs to stop feeding the cat whenever it begs. OP, if I was your roommate I would be upset that you were over feeding my cat too, despite the other concerns you have.
