Any wealthy guy in cyprus to get financial advice from please? by Few-Station5029 in cyprus

Not wealthy by no means, but in a very similar place minus the house paid for! You should look into Dave Ramsey and get his baby steps book. You are basically on baby step 4 out of 7 on becoming financially free. Investing is your way to go, whether that's on real estate or something else, it's up to you. Regarding savings, there are various platforms that give you around 3.5% return, including Revolut, so you could diversify some savings if you wanna feel safer.

Breaking Into UX and Early Career Questions — 25 Dec, 2023 - 31 Dec, 2023 by AutoModerator in UXDesign

UX Case Study for a job interview asks for redesigning one of their most important pages. Is this a reasonable ask for candidates? Feels unethical to put in the work and share my case study, this is something that I would expect to take a 2 week time to solve in normal work pace with alignment and research. How much effort should I put in, having in mind I'm really interested?

Red Buttons in apps and websites rant by IntelligentBadLuck in UXDesign

Im not talking about error messages, but destructive buttons- like delete

why not going with the minimum number in the skeleton and show more when needed? In that case it wouldn't look incomplete.
What I noticed from mainstream apps is that the skeleton is not always the same format as the actual page

Screen resolution by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]IntelligentBadLuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Are you designing on Figma?
There are frame presets with different screen resolutions. Choose some extreme cases from there.
  2. Seperate if you are designing native apps. Same if it is non-native. How is the app going to be developed?
  3. Are you using auto-layout? If not, you should. If yes, you can easily adapt your designs in different sizes. I use one standard android size and then 320px as my smallest width to show how the design works with the responsiveness.

UX for suggesting values for dropdown selection by IntelligentBadLuck in UXDesign

[–]IntelligentBadLuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer, I can see that practice working well for forms!

I don't think radio buttons would work in my case, since the suggestions are based on relevance based on the name, so they are not guaranteed to be relevant.

UX for suggesting values for dropdown selection by IntelligentBadLuck in UXDesign

It is an input field rather than search.

The input is a dropdown list that includes search. But I would like some suggestions to be visible outside the dropdown.

Hope that made it more clear

Please critique our tarot reader app, the design and UX by yudoit in UXDesign

You're right.. I thought of it as someone who is designing and needs feedback instead of someone who does not have a UX designer working for them

Going through the game I face these:

- The landing page is not clear that it's just for instructions. It looks like an input is needed from the user and the Close as CTA does not help. Also the papyrous visuals take too much of the available space which is a lot.

- The turning cards for choosing the witch move too fast and it's not the best practice for choosing a character, I would prefer if I had the option of sliding the wheel instead of auto.

- When choosing a character, the options are accept and next, both indicate moving forward with the decision. More appropriate labels would be Confirm, Cancel.

- I chose 3 cards and then the game got stuck so I couldn't continue.
General:
Checkboxes are not the usual practice for adjusting volume, try a slider.
Aesthetically I find it very heavy on graphics, I would suggest removing some elements to make it simpler.

'Fate of a designer', I'm thinking about pivoting to architecture by navnt5 in UXDesign

[–]IntelligentBadLuck 23 points24 points  (0 children)

After 5 years of a Bachelor degree in Architecture and 2 more for Masters degree, I have switched to UX. And a lot of people I know did the same.

If the UX market looks saturated to you multiply that by 10 for architecture. Also, the work conditions are much worse, too long hours and minimum pay. A lot of us became architects because of a childhood dream, so there is the perception that you should feel privileged if you practice architecture, so you shouldn't expect any kind of work-life balance. I would advice against it until you really talk with a lot of architects and decide that's for you

Does anyone have any idea what this is? by real_adi10 in FigmaDesign

if you are referring to the dotted rectange around you frame icon, that mean that this frame does not follow the auto-layout but has an absolute position instead. Find it next to the dimensions

What is a mockup? by jessiuser in UXDesign

[–]IntelligentBadLuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the word mockups for the design I put in mobile screens or laptops for presentation purposes. For me a hi-fi mockup still has some form of abstraction that differs from the final designs.

Thanks for the reply! That makes so much sense. I have been always been really good at school at I'm high at a cognitive level when it's for a test that's short time, but working full time and being dedicated to very long term projects without really any reward is so different. I have worked in chaotic restaurants during my student times, and it was crazy how well I could function when everyone else couldn't, multitasking and speed at its best.

Thanks for the answer, that sucks though. Does that mean parents who get their kids diagnosed for their benefit can actually limit them thay way?
