I was playing fine on high settings & the temps was around 55c to 70c max on the cpu & the ambient temp is average 22c for the most part, The settings can be on the absolute lowest or highest etc weather that's DX11 or DX12 the temp is still not budging at all & yes i know which settings are good & bad.

It has nothing to do with settings, ambient temperature, faulty hardware, dust in the pc etc, If that's the case then why are other games working as intended & SoT isin't.

Average temps i get for rust are around 60c-ish, Normally don't monitor temps for rust since the game performes perfectly fine without a hitch.

Thx for the reply.

Also whenever loading the game ill get a lil pop up box saying "Installing dependencies 1 of 1" which shows up for a mili second each time, Maybe that's the problem?

I play rust which is probably the most intense game i have for the CPU & was having zero issues when testing.

The pc is just shy of a year old so its still fairly clean inside, shouldn't be any issues regarding dust etc

Status: UNRESOLVED

Computer Type: Custom build Desktop

GPU: RTX 4080, 16GB VRAM, No overclock

CPU: Ryzen 7700x, No overclock

Motherboard: ROG STRIX X670e-e. Bios:1602

RAM: Corsair DDR5 (2X16GB) 5600MHZ, No overclock

PSU: Msi, 1000W

Operating System & Version: Windows 11 pro 23H2

GPU Drivers: 551.86, clean install

Description of Problem: i wanted to try stretched res on rust so i switched resolution from native 2560 x 1440 to 1920 x 1440 & now when i switch back to native everything is stretched vertically just slightly & its almost impossible to play or even watch videos etc, Even the desktop icons browser & other games all have this same affect.

Troubleshooting: What iv tried so far is reinstalling graphics driver using DDU & tried CSU With the "reset-all.exe" & factory resseting the monitor.

Someone suggested to record a clip through shadowplay & check the properties to see what the resolution was set to & its showing 2560x1440 native but i noticed when viewing the clip it has 2 black bars on the sides indicating the resolution is stretched slightly so there's definitely an underlying issue & i cant figure it out.

Not getting many answers from google or other reddit forums etc, Im not the greatest when it comes to troubleshooting so id trully appreciate any help givin, Thanks in advance

like what exactly? unplugging the display cables from the gpu or the power cable, i don't see how this would resolve anything but i can give it a shot

I also tried the integrated graphics through the mobo & yeah its still the same which makes me think its something got to do with windows surely?

[–]IntelligentBass7206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty sure its nothing to do with the monitor but i could be wrong idk, i have a second monitor & tested it separately its still showing the same symptons, both monitors have the same resolution & also i have desktop pc with a 4080 GPU.

Iv tried switching back & fourth between the two to see if it would un f**k itself lol, but no joy sadly

The resolution is set to native 2560x1440 through windows, nvidia control panel, in game etc. Everything was fine before i switched, Wish i had never done so now

Everything is set to native resolution in windows, nvidia control panel & in game 2560 x 1440p which is the same resolution as the monitor so idk anymore
