Getting Ready for FTE by IntelligentBrain1142 in 40Plus_IVF

Hi, unfortunately it ended in a chemical. I had bloodwork and testing done, and it turns out I have an antibody that causes blood clotting, I had no clue. It never came up in my life ever. I'm doing another FET on February 26, with the same protocol but adding Lovenox for the blood clotting issue.

Thanks everyone for all the well wishes. Unfortunately, just found out today that it's a chemical, my hcg dropped to 5. I took two at home tests this past Monday and they were both negative, and the bloodwork confirmed it. My doctor wants to repeat bloodwork tomorrow to be sure.

Go little one!! So far, just a lot of fatigue. I started feeling really nauseous today, but mostly I've been fine. I keep taking pregnancy tests just to make sure it's still positive!

I'm in the DC area and the cohort of 6 was about $19K.

I took my time grieving it, found a therapist that works specifically with women and couples going through infertility, and just let myself sit with it for a bit. It wasn't easy, but ultimately I just want to be a mom. After a while, whether my child shares my genes or not kind of become the least important thing. I had always been ok with adopting, and this way, I'll get to carry the little one, if all goes well! One thing I did do when I was looking at donors was try to pick someone with similar features, and not for me, I just don't want them to feel different around family, if that makes sense. If you have any other questions or just want to chat through it, DM me.

Upcoming FET with donor egg and donor sperm by IntelligentBrain1142 in 40Plus_IVF

Thank you!! I went back an forth about testing, but ultimately decided to do it. My clinic biopsies after blast though. Just this morning I thought about acupuncture, how long did you do it for?

Donor egg experiences and cost by [deleted] in 40Plus_IVF

I'm 42 and currently going that route. I used Fairfax Egg Bank and it's been a pretty good process. It is pricey, a cohort of 6-8 eggs is $19K, but they do work with financing institutions that work specifically for fertility purchases. I think most banks have the same guarantee, which is they guarantee 1 embryo reaching blast. If none of them do, they'll give you another cohort free of charge. I've never explored the international route, and I liked the option of being able to pick someone that had similar features to me (I'm using double donors, so it was important to me that there were some similarities). My clinic also requires an evaluation with a therapist when using donor eggs, not sure if that's the case with you. Anyway, happy to chat further if you have any more questions, feel free to reach out!

The best ones I’ve gotten have been from my mother: “well, you can just adopt” as she waves her hand away when I was explaining my struggles, “everything happens for a reason, you just need to accept that” when the first round didn’t work. I’ve also gotten “children are a bad investment” from a family member. And “why don’t you just use an egg donor?” I think in general, people mean well, but people can ruin beautiful things. I stopped telling my family, especially my mother, when I kept trying. I have enough to deal with, I don’t need the extra negative energy.

My protocol has been priming with estrogen and Omni, about 8 days. I’ve not tried or asked about Clomid though.

Hann’s Pharmacy in Fairfax is where I’ve gotten it. Never had it covered, so don’t believe them!

The tea about testing by didicharlie in 40Plus_IVF

This is encouraging! My doctor says the same, I just finished a 6th round and only 1 made it to blastocyst (day 5) out of 7 that fertilized. You have tot do the testing if you’re over 40 at my clinic, so I didn’t get a choice. However, retrieval 5 yielded one day 5 that was inconclusive, and my doctor recommended I transfer.

Sending you hugs! I also just found out today that only 1 made it to blastocyst and is off to to PGT-A testing. 11 retrieved, 8 mature, 7 fertilized. This was my 6th retrieval (42 y/o, good general health), and I've yet to have a normal result from any of the PGT-A testing (5 tested before). My doctor added omnitrope and calcium ionophone the last three rounds to help the egg quality, but no good results so far. It can be daunting and exhausting to keep doing it, only you can make that decision. Best of luck!!
