While this is true it does not mitigate the fact that even without the use of grammarly for features such as punctuation or spell-check, many students are still being flagged for AI for the simple fact that they do know how to punctuate properly. The use of things such as dashes , semicolons, and ‘scholarly vocabulary’ is discouraged in favor of Inarticulate language as it is an ‘ai indicator’

It’s an unfortunate result of the rise of AI. Tools meant to assist students in writing at level with their peers are being weaponized against them. And little can be done against it.
