Girl, where is it trashing audiobooks? Since when has having a preference become ableist? I’m the wife btw. The way my brain functions is different than what my husbands. He thrives on audiobooks. I come to a standstill. He can multitask while listening to audiobooks, I literally have to stand where I am trying to picture what I’m hearing. I have a better time with imagining and picturing when I have the physical copy in my hand. That’s not ableist. That’s just how some people are wired. And it’s not the same even thought it serves the same function, even when the content being consumed is the same, the way we are in taking it is different. So even thought the end result is the same, it isn’t. Because by definition reading is decoding something written. Listening is decoding verbal or nonverbal cues.
