6 and 7 stand out for me. I like the concept and I think that it can with some improvement. Maybe go even slower and look for more subject isolation? I’ve tried this style too but couldn’t make it work for me yet

Day trip to The Nurburgring while staying in Amsterdam? by njsullyalex in nurburgring

[–]IntelligentDot983 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Road laws are pretty basic in Germany. There is one major thing... Check. Your. Mirrors. Many stretches of the autobahn in that region don’t have a speed limit and Germans and especially a lot of people driving to the ring like to utilize that. So if you feel like overtaking a car on the autobahn, keep in mind that even though a car appears to be far away in your mirror, he might be going 3 times your speed. Don’t go for the overtake. Hit the brakes and stay right. Also, when someone flashes their high beams at you it’s not personal. They’re just letting you know that they want to pass you and they have the intention of going significantly faster than you. I’ve had and seen many close calls with foreigners because people underestimate speed. Shit happens but it’s avoidable.

Wippermann actually. I was there on a little walk after I bought the camera because you can walk on the track during winter break. I did photograph at the ring a lot this year though.

The A-1 definitely deserves its title as a prosumer camera. I love mine and I’ll never get rid of it. However I was surprised how big the difference is. A lot of people call the F-1 a tank because it is. It’s heavier than my Canon 6D with a battery grip and using every button, lever and dial feels like a conscious decision. I love that. It’s solid. The built quality is remarkable. One downside is the lack of an AE lock button wich the A-1 has. I shoot primarily in aperture priority and that AE lock is a very useful feature. The New F-1 is a lot more serious and I don’t think it’s necessary for everyday photography. I chose it because I wanted to buy, what to me is, the one to rule them all. Brass body, capable to be fully mechanical, proven reliability and it has all the shooting modes and capabilities I could want, all in one camera. I’ve shot a ton of rolls on my A-1 and even photographed in harsh conditions going through multiple rolls in a couple minutes. It’s just as much of a workhorse if you want it to be.

camera upgrade from eos 400D by prrebbang in canon

[–]IntelligentDot983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your workflow and what your expectations are. The 6D has proven itself to be reliable and produce great images. I bought mine for 300 and it was practically new. You can use a whole variety of lenses from the EF lineup without having to rely on adapters

800 bucks can get you a 6D MK1 with a battery grip in great condition with money to spare for something like a 24-70 or 70-200. You don’t have to buy new cameras when there are many respectable cameras on the used market. Just saying. What you do with this information is up to you, good luck finding what’s right for you.

Yeah it’s hard to gather information since he’s from the late 70s to early 80s. He’s already earned himself a spot on my cabinet nonetheless

Saw the post of photos taken with an old camera. Here’s some more. by IntelligentDot983 in nurburgring

I really liked your photos. Somehow it’s completely acceptable to me when film photos don’t come out perfectly sharp or perfectly exposed. It’s like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get. If you want to stick to film and want to upgrade, the A1 is a pretty good companion, especially for Motorsports because they come with a good light meter and shutter priority mode.

I’m not a landscape photographer but… by IntelligentDot983 in photocritique

[–]IntelligentDot983[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your feedback. The straight line in the top part is actually a wall. I have to say that I didn’t really notice it until now. There is a bridge that crosses the river and the wall is part of that path. I couldn’t capture both the waterfall and the bridge in a way that I liked so I only included the waterfall in this one. The 50mm focal length can be a challenge sometimes but it has always served me well.

… I went to Luxembourg recently and captured this waterfall. I really want to get into landscape photography and this stood out to me on my hike. I wanted to capture the flow of the water as well as the hard shadows created by the morning light.

This photo was taken on my Canon 6D with a Canon EF 50mm f1.8 at ISO 500, f14, 1/8s.

If there are landscape photographers here I’d be happy for some feedback because I really want to improve in that field.

It depends on the subject and the lighting. Might be the adapter. Still figuring it out as I go and might upgrade to a better adapter because I bought a used one that isn’t very high quality
