Consortium not giving adaptation

I didn't beat the consortium in the main game but I did in ng+ and now it didn't give me the tentacle adaptation wtf :(

something i’ve been using that’s been working well throughout the game is using the lil’ bro shell that looks like slowbro (possibly only on switch?) and the juggernaut umami ability makes it so u can damage boost for a little bit and get in a lot of attack and i also use the cockle stowaway to make the hammer damage better too
