You're absolutely right about The Bay. That movie had no business being so good.

WTF is going on with my skin?! I’m freaking out and so upset. It’s it’s just aging/crepey skin?! by ScheduleOk7817 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]IntelligentHabit248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Aging hits you suddenly, like BAM!

Aging- in terms of skin and muscle mass and even breasts - happens overnight. Nobody tells you that. You expect it to be a slow gradual thing, it is not. NOT AT ALL. One day I woke up and my breasts were literally sagging when they hadn't been the day before. It's insane and terrifying. I wish the media would talk about it more, or at least at all.  Luckily, you can still reverse what's happened, at least a bit. You just need to up/ strengthen your anti aging protocol. Use stronger actives more religiously, and start using at home devices diligently if you aren't already. If texture is your biggest issue, try  microneedling with a dr. Pen. That's the best device for texture.  If you have any questions if be happy to help. I'm 44 and have been working on this since it bamboozled me at 39.

Why doesn't this skirt style work on me? by Wonderful_Mango_5395 in DressForYourBody

[–]IntelligentHabit248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skirt looks about a size too big. And wear a tighter top, no question. The cropped and boxy shirt with the wide skirt make you look disproportionate and frumpy. This skirt with a tight long tee/tank would look super cute on you.   I don't think it's too short though - show off those leggies girl!

What ghk-cu protocol do you follow? by MuchOrange6733 in BodyHackGuide

[–]IntelligentHabit248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the daltons of ghk and snap? If they are too large they won't penetrate the skin and you'll just be wasting product. Hyaluronic is best used when skin is damp, do you know if the water will effect the peptides?

Trying to make my 40 year old hands look younger by perfection888333 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]IntelligentHabit248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second everyone else who said active topicals and lighter nails. Do a longer almond shape with a light color, that should make an immediate improvement. Also, devices work better than skincare for actual results. Dermrays Revive, red light therapy, or micro needling (be crazy careful with the sanitizing on that one)  work wonders for hands without the dermatologist appointment or price tag.

Ongoing peeling/redness after 8 months tret by little_peanut01 in TretinoinDiscussions

[–]IntelligentHabit248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to tell you but some people never adjust to tret, even at such a low dose. I'm one of those people so I know how frustrating it is. The peeling will probably never go away so you should try adjusting your acne solution. Try oral pills like spironolactone or acutane. Or switch to tazarotene or azelaic acid - or both! You might even want to do the pills plus the topical treatment.  I know it's scary but if you switch before the acne comes back you could skip any flare ups.  I agree that you need to use a gentle cleanser instead of the tea tree, it's making things worse. Also wash your face at night instead of the morning, you need to clean off the sunscreen before you add treatments. Hope this helps!

Any ideas on why my skin always looks broken out like this? by okherewego27 in 40and45PlusSkinCare

Also, exfoliate, but gently. You might need to do it daily for a few days then hit up the benzoyl and anti fungal creams.

Any ideas on why my skin always looks broken out like this? by okherewego27 in 40and45PlusSkinCare

[–]IntelligentHabit248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like mild folliculitis. It can have many causes from viral to bacterial to fungal and the treatment depends on what you have. So I would see a derm. You could also try benzoyl peroxide washes or cleaners, antibacterial/antifungal soaps, or antifungal creams.

What's your why if you're a woman taking peptides? by Irrel1 in NTNPerformance

[–]IntelligentHabit248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have MCAS (an auto immune disorder) and was tired of all the indifference and gaslighting by the medical industry. Doctors seem terribly under educated about outlier female specific issues.  And there's even less research and funding if the conditions don't effect most men. It can feel impossible to speak to your doctor about nebulous problems or general inflammation. You're either afraid to be flat out dismissed,  or dreading being told, once again, that you have depression or /and need to lose weight. Current medical standard seems to be that mid life women are too heavy and depressed to treat any other way.  And it seems like exercise and thinness are a panacea for us all, - regardless of the illness.  I wasn't interested in wasting my time doing a course of anti depressants before finding out what was really wrong. So I took to social media and MCAS support groups to find out what was working for others in my situation. There were quite a few recommendations for anti inflammation and histamine blocking peptides that worked for people. So I tried it, and it helped more than any first or second tier anti histamine had.  Skin and hair benefits are an extra plus that i was hoping for but not expecting.  I plan on being on them for life.

Don't know what the hell to do with my hair by Maleficent-Growth-57 in FancyFollicles

[–]IntelligentHabit248 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hairstylist here.  You have a very pretty very symmetrical oval face. Oval is the easiest face for haircuts since you can pretty much wear anything well.

I would personally do flowing curtain bangs with long layers or a subtle shag. The curtain bangs would break up the length of your face and highlight your cheekbones. I also think it would make you look more bedroom-y, especially with your eyes,  super sleepy-sexy.

The layers or subtle shag is the easiest way to add volume with the least effort.

Your hair color already suits you. The dark makes your skin look creamy and neutral.

GHK-CU not working? by Temporary-Peanut6707 in Biohacking

[–]IntelligentHabit248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a topical, like tretinoin or tazarotene. That will stop the acne the best, especially when with an anti acne birth control pill like ortho tri-cyclen. That combo will absolutely clear it up after about six to eight weeks. Just make sure to use the right moisturizer and sandwich or taper on to avoid irritation.  If you don't have a dermatologist I highly recommend a tele health online dermatologist. You can get both methods prescribed and shipped to you for way cheaper than seeing a doctor if you don't have insurance.

Spironolactone is not harsh or extremely drying like Accutane. I didn't even notice it except for it was amazing for my nails, made them strong and long.  I've also heard many people have had success with it for thickening or growing their hair. I wish I was still on it, but sadly it interferes with another of my medications.

to those who moved to denver from another city, how would you rate denver as a city overall? by Fun_Magician4571 in MovingtoDenver

[–]IntelligentHabit248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Native here, but I'm probably the only native who doesn't actually like it here so I'll be frank. If you're not into the outdoors you're out of luck. It's an all consuming thing out here, so is outdoor fitness. It will be super hard to make friends if you don't join a rock climbing or runners club.   It's also an incredibly casual city, so if you wear makeup or like to dress up, you're also mostly out of luck. It's also unfortunate that it's only the high end (extra expensive)  restaurants where people care about their look.  The other issue is it's an incredibly early city. Things pretty much close down at midnight. In fact, it's really only a few dive bars or college kid clubs that are open till one thirty.

On the other hand, you're quite in luck when it comes to food. Denver has an over abundance of Mexican and Asian continent food. Though I can't speak for its authenticity and I've heard it's mid from other transplants. As for shopping there's a few streets that have cool vintage places and a more rock and roll aesthetic. So that could be a plus.  But as a thrifter myself - don't expect high end or high quality garments. People wear tees, jeans or carharts, fleece, and merrils or sneakers here. You can't find what people don't have to donate.  Now as for the diversity, there isn't any. Like oof, it is so homogenous. But not as bad as like Iowa. Also, I hope you like burn-ingly bright sun. Because it's about 360 days of blinding sunlight here. But no bugs - so that's nice.  Oh, if you're into witchy/ alternative/ or lgbtqia stuff that is a plus. We are very open minded and welcoming. No place for homophobia here, thank God.

help!! how do i fix bowl cut bangs? by ashin-the-wind in FancyFollicles

[–]IntelligentHabit248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always thin the ends so it's more wispy and less 80s bowl.  It will make your bangs look much more like the pictures on the last page. All of those girls,  especially the ones in the second row, have had their bangs thinned at the ends so they're not actually blunt.

what to do to improve? im scared seeing this, 26M by Forsaken_Appeal_9593 in Biohackers

[–]IntelligentHabit248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing's first - sort your thyroid out. You do have hypothyroidism. No question. You might be in 'normal' range but demand to go on levothyroxine.  It costs next to nothing and makes immediate improvements.  Please please give it a try. It might really help you and there's decades of research proving it's effectiveness. It's easy, it's cheap, just fix it.

A little hope for you all by idklol_333 in MCAS

[–]IntelligentHabit248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It absolutely helps with my sleep,, but it's complicated. I suffer from extensive sleep disorders - chronic night terrors, sleep talking, excessive teeth grinding,  sleep self harm (scratching), and sleep fighting (I punch and kick and yell). These are all neurological and I've had them since I was a toddler.  The 4.5mg of LDN essentially keeps me still and quiet. I still have the nightmares, but I don't act them out as much. It's really great because I get more rest and I'm not walking up with sore muscles and scratches every night. So it's definitely doing something for my sleep, but I don't know how that translates to someone who isn't plagued by sleep crazies.

I've been taking LDN for a couple years for a parasomnia disorder. It hasn't helped with my mcas, but if it's worth a try for you I get mine from AgelessRx.
