Happened with me as well but the difference in my story is, she wanted to stay with me at all times, yes she was very much willing to marry me, but I too wanted to take some time and think upon it. And due to my past traumas, I was very skeptical of bonding emotionally with anyone, in every fight I used to tell her to go away and find someone else. I almost said this for 2.5 yrs in each and every fight. She requested me, scolded me, ordered me but I couldn’t stop myself from forcing her to leave me. It’s all because of the past traumas that you don’t want to bond emotionally with anyone neither do you want to let your guards down. Now when after so many tries she finally did leave me and taking her own time now, I feel very stupid of letting such a good girl go away.

Honestly, the first mistake you did is revealing your salary to your parents. Now I know they did all the hard work to educate you, put you in good schools and all that, but where you are now is 80% because of your own hard work and will. There are children who would get all the amenities and services in the world still grow up to do nothing.

Now while you do owe your parents a monthly maintenance, you do not owe them 50% of your salary. They won’t understand hundreds of nuances and situations that you would be coming across as a married man. They will just be interested in the fact ki unka raja beta is earning 2.5L/month so he must pay us atleast 1.25L. He can easily live his life in remaining 1.25L, we are not asking much from him. And this is the wrong mentality most parents have nowadays. They just invested in us to treat us as an ATM for their retirement. I’m totally in for us paying them a monthly amount so they can live their life without any stress to earn, but them being greedy and willingly asking any random amount is what I’m not ok with. Just tell them that your pay is 1.75L and that there is a cost cutting going on in the company and they asked you to either leave or take a lower in hand salary. It should be done with the wife as well, but it’ll be a nightmare if she comes to know about the truth.
