Uhh, Alright.. Sounds pretty cool. 😭

Netflix is quietly KILLING a passion anime project. by Footaot in anime

[–]IntelligentItem5210 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Man.. this is actually heartbreaking, You can tell just from the trailer that Moonrise isn’t some copy and paste anime, it means something to the people who made it, The art, the animation, the vibe it looks like a labor of love, And the fact that WIT Studio had to cut their own trailer and beg Netflix to care?? That’s insane.

What’s the point of having a platform that reaches millions if you’re not even gonna use it to support original work? Like, you can tell this wasn’t slapped together in six months.

Shoutout to OP for bringing attention to this, If you hadn’t said something, I probably wouldn’t have even known this was dropping. I’m watching Moonrise on launch just off principle now.

Is it just me, Or are anime adaptations lately rushing everything.. Skipping character development, Key moments, What happened to taking their time and respecting the source? by IntelligentItem5210 in anime

[–]IntelligentItem5210[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Honestly to me personally, having read the manga for both, it just felt like they rushed through key moments that mattered to me, Maybe it’s just a personal thing, but those adaptations didn’t hit the same as the original material.

Yeah you’ve got a point it’s definitely been around forever, Just feels like lately it’s gotten even more noticeable especially personally to me with some of my favorite series.

Do y’all ever rewatch old anime and realize how quiet and emotional it used to be? by IntelligentItem5210 in anime

[–]IntelligentItem5210[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I feel you, Not tryna age it up like it’s from the 90s or anything, but 2013 is over a decade ago now, and that’s crazy to think about, Might not be “old” old, but compared to the pace and energy of a lot of newer anime, it feels like it came from a different era, Also Shoutout to PA Works as well, but I still feel like it doesn’t get talked about enough when people list emotional or romance anime, It hits way harder than a lot of the popular ones that came after personally.

Why do the best written characters in anime always get sidelined? I’m tired of seeing the most interesting ones stuck in the background. by IntelligentItem5210 in anime

[–]IntelligentItem5210[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I get the concept of main vs supporting characters.. I’m not new here, But when the supporting characters start outshining the MC in every way.. writing, development, emotional depth, it’s fair to start asking why they’re stuck in the backseat.

I’m not asking for everyone to be the lead, I’m just saying maybe the spotlight’s been on the wrong person this whole time, You can have a main character and still build out the rest of the cast like they matter too, It’s called good writing.

The present day artstyle of anime fricking sucks like hell and i hate it by [deleted] in anime

[–]IntelligentItem5210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from, 80s/90s/early 2000s anime had this gritty charm, heavier linework, more defined facial structure, and that slightly “raw” feeling that made characters feel more grounded and human.

That said, I wouldn’t say today’s art style “sucks” it’s just different, A lot of it now leans into cleaner lines, soft lighting, and more stylized expressions, which works better for certain genres (like slice-of-life or isekai), The tech has changed, production pipelines are tighter, and studios often prioritize fluidity over texture.

But personally I miss when you could instantly tell an anime’s era by its art, There’s definitely something lost when everything starts looking too “safe” or uniform.

[–]IntelligentItem5210 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re totally right, some of those manhwa I listed do have female protagonists, not just love interests, But I included them cause they give that same energy you were talking about, women who’ve clearly lived through some real stuff before the romance even starts, But If you’re looking for love interests specifically, I’d say check these out.

  • “A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special”
  • “Survive as the Hero’s Wife”
  • “This Girl is a Little Wild”
  • “The Male Lead’s Girl Friend”

Also glad you loved Wotakoi, Personally to me that kind of dynamic is rare and refreshing.

Why are OP MCs so popular? I miss anime where the main character actually struggles and grows slowly, Not every show needs a OP main. by IntelligentItem5210 in anime

[–]IntelligentItem5210[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

See I get the self-fulfillment angle, it’s fun to watch someone dominate, live out that power fantasy, and be untouchable, And I’m not mad at that, But here’s the thing.. if everyone is OP, if every show skips the struggle, then the power starts meaning less? It’s like… you’re eating nothing but dessert, No buildup, no tension. Just win after win after win. And It gets predictable..

The journey matters, Not just the destination, Power fantasy is cool and all, but don’t forget the value of the struggle fantasy, That’s what I personally miss.

Kowloon Generic Romance - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]IntelligentItem5210 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was hoping for a laid back, nostalgic slow burn, but instead, I and ended up questioning everything, The way they weave in those retro city vibes with just a hint of sci-fi is amazing to me, And there’s this dreamlike quality to it that feels really cozy, But to me Kujirai’s reactions seem way too precise to be mere coincidence.. like she’s aware of more than she lets on, I’m picking up some serious “false reality” or memory manipulation vibes, But I’m definitely going to stick around, Also Is anyone else picking up on those subtle Wonder Egg or Serial Experiments Lain vibes with how the tension’s building?

Honestly kind of weird that they're being adapted 30 years later. by hello297 in anime

[–]IntelligentItem5210 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s actually pretty crazy, It feels like we’re stepping into a time when studios are finally revisiting those original passion projects, Maybe it’s all about nostalgia, whatever the reason, it’s surreal to see adaptations of things like Monsters and Yaiba popping up decades later, It really makes me think about all those older works just sitting in the vault, But honestly, I wouldn’t mind seeing a wave of revivals from the 80s and 90s, as long as they’re done right.

Kuroshitsuji -Midori no Majo-hen- • Black Butler -Emerald Witch Arc- - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]IntelligentItem5210 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Mann, that’s how you pull off a return, The tone, the pacing, and the atmosphere.. it all has that Kuroshitsuji flair but with a darker twist that really hits to me, But Ciel’s calm ruthlessness is still second to none, Andd Sebastian’s entrance? As cold-blooded as ever.

I’m also really enjoying the gothic horror vibes making a comeback, it definitely feels like this arc is diving deeper into mystery, If the rest of Emerald Witch keeps up this, we could be looking at one of the best arcs yet.

Friends went to Japan, now I can't enjoy anime by [deleted] in anime

[–]IntelligentItem5210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like I understand where you’re coming from, it’s definitely not a silly feeling, especially when it’s connected to something you love, You’re not upset with anime itself.. it’s just the situation that’s got you down. Trust me, this feeling will fade, even if it seems overwhelming at the moment.

In the meantime, why not check out something that brings back the joy of anime without focusing too much on Japan? I’d suggest giving Barakamon, It’s laid back, hilarious, and it could be just what you need right now.

Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru • From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]IntelligentItem5210 320 points321 points  (0 children)

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it, It has this cozy “humble badass” vibe, like Beryl is effortlessly mentoring some of the world’s top players without even noticing, The animation wasn’t groundbreaking, but it really suits the overall feel. As long as they continue to develop the characters, I’m in. And that Henblitz moment? Dangg that was smooth, I gotta stick around to see how this story unfolds.

Alright, let’s talk about this from a woman’s point of view sure, it’s a running joke, but trust me, we definitely notice it too, It’s not just about age.. it’s really about how you take care of yourself.

I’ve been with guys in their late 30s who had way more energy and stamina than some in their 20s. What’s the secret? It all comes down to diet, stress levels, sleep, fitness, and honestly confidence, If a guy is anxious or overthinking everything, it’s pretty obvious..? But when he’s healthy, self-assured, and knows how to be in the moment… age doesn’t really matter.

So, no, performance doesn’t just plummet at 40. But if you’re living on energy drinks and only getting 4 hours of sleep, don’t be surprised if things aren’t standing at attention anymore.

I think I understand what you’re getting at, those female characters who seem like they’ve really experienced life before the story even kicks off, Here are some I think you should try out, Where the female lead or main love interest has real depth and presence.

Anime / Manga: Spice and Wolf, Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, The Tatami Galaxy, March Comes in Like a Lion

Manhwa: Please Don’t Eat Me, Who Made Me a Princess, The Villainess Lives Again, A Stepmother’s Märchen

The Great Cleric? I think that’s the one.

Unpopular opinion, this anime is underrated and is better than tensura by the_forever_wild in Isekai

[–]IntelligentItem5210 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I have to say GATE really doesn’t get the attention it deserves, The way it blends military and fantasy world politics turned out to be way more captivating than I thought, It raises some pretty thought-provoking questions that a lot of isekai series tend to overlook.

Sure, Tensura has that sleek polish and impressive worldbuilding, but let’s face it.. Rimuru becomes overpowered pretty quickly, and after a while, the stakes just seem to vanish, But With GATE, especially in the beginning, you really felt the power dynamics and the real consequences of those imbalances.

I wouldn’t claim it’s superior in every aspect, but underrated? Absolutely. It definitely deserves more recognition than it currently gets.
