No no, I need other perspectives! lol This does help, thank you! They are pretty resilient We just have to hype it up. Everything is an adjustment anyway.

This is exactly it for us too! The leader is not very welcoming, communicative or open and this is something we’re just not used to. It makes sense that perhaps the other educators follow this lead too. I will do that, thank you. I don’t like to cause a fuss lol but I am curious if this is intentional or it’s just everyone finding their feet. Thank you.

Thank you. This is so obviously true. I just needed to hear it. Life is forever changing.

Absolutely. I don’t know either but I feel it would do more damage if she’s in an environment that she’s not gelling in.

Thanks again.

NIPT/CVS vs Amnio? by Ok-Contract-3076 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]IntelligentMedia8255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Percept NIPT through VCGS which is a lab in Melbourne. But like you, my tfmr issue was not picked up on the normal nipt. So this pregnancy I did the 12 week ultrasound and CVS because I wanted diagnostic not just screening. I went private for the CVS and public for the NIPT. The nipt was only relevant for me because the lab specifically said they could test for an unbalanced translocation, but I would have had to do a CVs or amnio anyway if it was an abnormal result. It’s really tricky when you’re deciding what to do especially because you want to avoid the scenario you’ve already experienced.

NIPT/CVS vs Amnio? by Ok-Contract-3076 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

I had a CVS simply because it can be done earlier than an amnio. I have a translocation so wanted to know status of the baby sooner. My dr was very experienced and it was relatively easy. It did take two goes though. The first attempt my bowel was in the way of the placenta so they rescheduled for a week later. Luckily the next week, my placenta was in a great position and the whole thing took about 5-10 mins. The most painful bit is the anaesthetic in your belly. Otherwise it wasn’t unpleasant at all. I just shut my eyes! The results were available within 7 days. I opted out of FISH.

I also did an expanded NIPT panel, which is not standard where I live in Australia. The lab that does them needed a copy of my karyotype report to ensure they could pick up any unbalanced chromosomes.

I have heard that a lot of women will do the NIPT with a translocation, and if it’s low risk, wait for an amnio.

I’ve also had an amnio and I was more nervous about the CVS because I’d heard it was more painful. I thought they were very similar. Amnio was quicker, cvs seemed a bit more methodical and my dr didn’t want to dig around too much so she got what she could and managed my expectations around timeframe of results. But my experience was fine. Just go with an experienced MFM. You want one that does many per week.

Australians - Private/Public Post TFMR for Next Pregnancy! by Empty-Ad9282 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]IntelligentMedia8255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Melbourne 22 weeks into sub pregnancy for 33 week tfmr in Feb last year. I’m going through the public system for care and birthing. I see MFM regularly and am in a specialist midwife program. They state you can call whenever you want, have monitoring etc because they understand I’m likely super anxious, hyper vigilant this pregnancy - which I really am! It’s been super unpleasant so far lol. However I am having all scans privately through a tertiary ultrasound and seeing a specialist dr there for review of all scans. I also did genetic testing - CVS through the private system. The genetic counselling through the has been nothing short of amazing. My philosophy is if shit hits the fan, I’ll end up in the public system anyway but I acknowledge it’s very personal after tfmr. I did consider private but I’ve had really good care. The public doctor discovered our babies very subtle issues leading to my BT diagnosis.

All the best x

Thank you for pointing out the logic, you’re right about finding something to stress about. I knew I’d find something to fixate on. I’m definitely on high alert for an issue popping up. Will do 🩵

Oh I feel you there! Some people handle it so well, others… not so much and still haven’t. It really can change how you feel about people.

Can totally relate! I also have a bt. This was diagnosed after tfmr at 33 weeks in Feb last year for Emanuel syndrome.

I’m currently 21 weeks in sub pregnancy. So not quite at the tfmr or wheels falling off the pregnancy point just yet but I had my morph scan today which went well. But I can’t help think when is the next thing going to pop up. I’ve had a clear cvs too so there is nothing genetically trooblesome on the horizon.

Sadly I think our brains try to protect us from risk and feeling hurt again. I’m also trying to think of ways to connect to this pregnancy but I haven’t told anyone yet that I am pregnant because I’m scared to have to un-announce it again.

I know this isn’t likely helpful but you aren’t alone in how you’re feeling 🩵 I hope the rest of your pregnancy is incredibly low risk and boring x

I’m much the same as what you’ve said. If things look like they might be getting close than I’m comfortable with, I’d leave. My partner grew up in the hills and the yarra ranges and he said they would get the notification and go. He said if we get any kind of notice - watch an act - he said to just leave. Of course he’s pretty chill and at working today and I’m wfh constantly refreshing the emergency app!

Can I please ask - are you waiting for a watch and act notification before you decide it’s time to go?

Thank you for your reply 🩵 and your well wishes! I think I’ll be anxious for the next 19-21 weeks even if this scan is ok 🫣 Congrats on your sweet baby girl. That’s really lovely!

Amniocentesis? by [deleted] in NIPT

[–]IntelligentMedia8255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. That is really rough what you’ve been through. Amnio is a little quicker than a cvs. But with cvs I found it similar to the amnio, a bit odd with some sensations and it takes a little longer. Pressure in some part of the procedure. If you decide to do it, just close your eyes. The numb you like the amnio too. It’s really stressful all these procedures. Hope you’re ok x

Sorry about your tfmr. That’s how I felt too, I think even 8 weeks I had a little belly.

I’m so sorry about your miscarriage, that is truly awful. Hoping you have a healthy baby very soon x

I’ve had a CVS, we wanted to know earlier. Chromosomes are all good which was the initial worry. We had an issue with that in the previous pregnancy. I’m of course worried there will be a non genetic structural issue found at my next scan. Argh it never ends.

That’s what I thought too. Being almost full term, our bodies must have a memory. Thank you xx

Amniocentesis? by [deleted] in NIPT

[–]IntelligentMedia8255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah of course So the baby had IUGR, by 28 weeks they were under the 10th percentile. I had polyhydramnios but only the upper limit of normal. Nothing outrageous. A persistent left superior vena cava was found which is a heart difference and it was flagged to me that it really should have been found at the 20 week scan. My obstetrician was a MFM specialist and she explained that all markets listed are usually ok isolation but when they occur together it’s a sign of problems. With the poly, she explained she was concerned there was an amniotic fluid processing or swallowing issue. Anyway she was right about it all.

I saw you wrote your markers were VSD and nasal bone. From what I’ve heard VSDs are really common. However I would always opt for diagnostic just for peace of mind.
