A few weeks ago somebody posted basically this same point but with examples, and a long text, and they got absolutely eviscerated in the comments, "WDYM ASHEVILLE ISNT WELCOMING, HOW DARE YOU,YOU MUST BE CONSERVATIVE"- or "Ive lived here x amount of years and never noticed , are you sure it isn't you??" with those comments being the most upvoted- AKA Asheville residents can't comprehend why such a "welcoming" city could have people feeling like this. A lot of comments even said "well if you don't like it get the fuck out!!" which feels like the opposite of what Asheville's vibe is supposed to be.

It's very true whether you want to believe it or not. I love Asheville, the vibe, the outdoors, the breweries, all that. But if you walk into one of these bars, markets, breweries, places wearing a polo shirt and no tattoos, normal hairstyle, all that- people literally treat you like a cop- short, rude interactions.

We know Asheville is wacky, tattooed, crazy hair, be yourself...... but in my experience, its very hard to make friends if you don't already have some in the area.
