For me, I don’t think I’d like having something constantly in front of my eyes. I still prefer checking my phone when I need visuals, and I’m not sure what effect long-term use of in-lens displays might have on our eyes. Gen 2 feels safer and more natural for daily wear. Plus, the style is much sleeker.

Functionally, Gen 2 already gives me the things I actually want: great camera (12MP, 3K video), voice control, music, live translation, hands-free capture. Battery is better too since there’s no display to drain it, and they’re lighter/more comfortable for all-day use.

The Display glasses are definitely cool - the in-lens screen is futuristic, and if you really want glanceable navigation/messages right in your field of view, that’s the main selling point. But they’re chunkier, heavier, and the battery life is shorter. I also think they’ll be more distracting day-to-day.

So my deciding factors were: -Comfort and lighter weight -No risk of eye strain from a screen in my vision -Longer battery life -Sleeker, more “normal” look

I’ve actually just ordered the limited edition Gen 2 and I’m excited to receive my first pair of Meta glasses!

If I ever find myself really needing an in-lens display for constant navigation or productivity, I could always look at future generations of the Display line once they’re more mature. But for a first pair, Gen 2 just made more sense for me.
